I am booked on the Sights of the Rhone in July. I have tried looking for it on your website but there is no sign of it. So either your website is not yet functioning correctly or maybe the holiday is fully booked & that is why it has disappeared.

Perhaps you could enlighten me.

Hello, Julia.   When it comes to problems with the river cruises showing on the website I have just spotted another one which is confusing.   "The Gateway to Provence on the Rhone", October 2020-October 2020, looks interesting but when I went into the departures it came up as "no departures showing".   Does that mean that it has fallen through, is sold out, or what?   Perhaps you could have a word with the relevant people?

I've just been onto the website again Julia and it is still saying "no departures found" for this river cruise.   If it isn't already booked up could you please let me know what the date is/should be?   If I have to wait for the web people to update it, it might already be full if I decide to go for it.

Hi Ann,

I have just chased this. The reason that the date & price is no longer showing is this tour has been taken by a private group. However, we have a second river cruise which is very similar (a reverse itinerary) and can be seen here:

Thank you for this, Julia.   I hadn't seen it before and it won't be any good for me because it is in July.   I've never heard of a private group taking up the whole of a JY holiday before, pity (and surprising).

The same thing happened to me with the Douro River Cruise on 6/7. It had disappeared from the website, although I managed to get a place when I phoned JY direct. The issue of Private Groups has been raised before. It isn't fair to offer these trips to single travellers through the JY brochure, and then hand them over to groups.

I absolutely agree. At least if the whole tour is booked out, no one suffers the same situation as I have done, when half the group had come “together” for a reunion.  Imagine a mature hen group, and you will get some idea. The rowdy behaviour was totally unacceptable, and brought the whole of the JY group into disrepute with the other guests staying in the hotel.  When I complained to JY about this situation, I was told that it is impossible to detect “group” bookings if bookings are made individually.  But, the website allows for multiple booking from JY customers: in the my case, if half the group had been allocated adjoining rooms, JY must have been well aware of the situation.
