Sorry, to bother you But I would be grateful if you could advise me please, roughly at least, what I would be charged by JY if I transferred my holiday to Namibia departing on Feb 22nd to the Costa Rica and Nicaragua holiday departing on March 8th.

( I will be in Iceland on an independent trip until the beginning of February and with my family commitments am worrying whether I will be too rushed getting everything sorted for Namibia. Namibia was always my first choice for a new year holiday but Costa Rica is a very close second)

I have just spoken to my colleague regarding this and unfortunately you will not be able to transfer to the Costa Rica and Nicaragua tour because it is fully booked. You can still transfer to a different date where are spaces available but there will be a £50 admin fee charge.

It is good news really because Namibia is certainly number one on my bucket list. I just need now to get my daughter or son to give me a little help when I return from Iceland.

I have done both tours and although I loved the Costa Rica tour, my favourite of the two is Namibia by a long way!  Perhaps you could transfer to another Namibia date if you think the one you have booked is too near to other commitments?  I loved everything about Namibia - the incredible landscapes including the highest dunes in the world, the fantastic food, the contrasts of being in desert and coastal areas (and driving along the infamous Skeleton Coast), the complex history and culture and of course, the amazing amount and variety of wildlife in Etosha.  Please don't miss out on this opportunity to see a truly unique country!  Well that's my opinion for what it's worth!!

You stated that the Mar 8th 2017 departure to Costa Rica and Nicaragua is fully booked. Can you tell me the total numbers going and the M/F split. I have just booked into the Leonardo hotel for the night before.

There are 28 travellers booked on this tour with the group made up of 8 men and 20 women with ages from early-40s through to early-70s.

Your opinion is very much appreciated. All your comments about this diverse country have just reminded me why I booked Namibia in the first place! As much as I  enjoy visiting countries with wonderful wildlife, it isn't just the wildlife that makes a country interesting to visit. In Namibia's case, scenery and wildlife excepted, I am interested in it's history as it is a former Germany colony and I like anything to do with Germany.

Unfortunately the February date for Namibia was the only one I could consider in the first place. However, I have read that February isn't a good month for wildlife encounters in Namibia whilst March is a good month for wildlife spotting in Costa Rica and Nicaragua.

I would like to see some San Bushmen. Am I likely to? Is the Damaraland Living Museum anything to do with them? Please excuse my lack of knowledge here.

Have you decided when you are going to Kenya, Oct or Nov? Wish I could go on that trip too.

 Great to talk to you the other night about Kenya. Brought back some smashing memories of my Kenyan holidays- a top holiday.

Yes have decided to go to Kenya next September. I think it will not be as cold in September though the holiday is a bit expensive then, plus having to pay for single room at the lodges is going to make this very expensive but I have now made up my mind. I better book it now in case the price goes up again when the new brochure is out. The prices are going up by quite a lot. You will enjoy Namibia whether or not you see plenty of wildlife. There is hardly any traffic whilst you are travelling long distances, but the scenery is good. Hope you get to climb the Dead Vlie (not sure if I have spelt it right) sand dune. We all did and it was lovely walking up in cool sand!

It certainly is a big group for the Costa Rica / Nicaragua trip. I don't think I have travelled with such a big group before so it will be a first experience. I am sure we will have a great time.

I have just seen your reply now - apologies!  In Damaraland, you will visit the Living Museum of the Damara people - it is a replica of a traditional village and you will learn about their culture and customs.  We did not see any Bushmen, but we did see some Himba ladies who use the red clay on their bodies - that was near Etosha - but they did not want their photo taken, which is fair enough!

I'm glad my comments helped you to stick with Namibia - I would have thought that Feb would be quite a good time to see wildlife in Etosha as it would be at the end of the summer but hopefully you will strike it lucky in any case!  As Jaya has said, I hope when you visit Sossusvlei that your TM takes you on a walk to Deadvlei, it is really worth it!

I am glad I know now that the Damara people aren't the Bushpeople and that I should avoid photographing certain ladies!
