Hi Avocet,
Freddy was the tour manager on my latest tour and he has been to over 130 countries. He told us that the Cambodia and Laos tour is his favourite of all the tours he does, so I hope you book and have a great time! If you do, please do write a review on your return. I've been to Cambodia when I went to Vietnam 3 years ago so there would be some overlap with this tour and I really loved it and would love to see more of the country. Laos sounds wonderful as well.
Best wishes,
Bob
Hello Bob
I must say I'm really tempted by this holiday. Like you, I did Cambodia with Vietnam, that would have been around 2008. At that time they took in S-21 (now Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum) and the Killing Fields, both horrific places to visit, but I'm glad I did because it opened my eyes to the atrocities that went on in Cambodia and it makes you realize just how lucky we are, our local guide in Phnom Penh was 2 yrs old when his school teacher mother was taken away to the Killing Fields. I also did Angkor again as an add on to Thailand in 2009 as I think it is too big a complex for anyone to take in in one go, and different local guides point out different things anyway, they don't all follow the same script, and we visited different outlying temples.
As you can guess, I love what I have already seen of Cambodia, and am intrigued to see into some of it's other nooks and crannies as well as going to Laos, somewhere I have not been before. The fact that it is the favourite of an experienced TM makes it even more tempting.
It would be later in the year if I decided to book. April is sold out, so hopefully someone from the group will post a review. There are so many great holidays at the moment with a promise of more in the April brochure which makes it difficult to choose where to go next, I think it will have to come down to the toss of a coin.
Happy holidays
