I am travelling to Sri Lanka in October, I was wondering where the best place to purchase Sri Lankan Rupees from is?

I have read on some forum sites that the airport in Sri Lanka is the best bet, do you have any better advice?

Thanks

Hi there Bri2,

I have spoken to the team and they have contacted your tour manager. They provided me with a few tips about purchasing Sri Lankan Rupees:

- If time allows, the group can change sterling to rupees on arrival at the airport.

- All our hotels have an exchange facility so clients can change sterling throughout the tour.

- ATM'S are also available in some areas.

I hope this has answered your question and if you have any further issues, I am happy to help. I hope you have a great trip!

Kindest Regards

Monty

I went last year, as it's a closed currency the tour guide was really good at suggesting places to change money. We all changed money at the airport-there were booths just outside. I paid all my hotels bills by card. The hotels were really good at changing money too. The key was not too change too much! Any other questions let me know! I had a fab time on this trip.

Hi Br2

The airport is a good place to get your rupees but you can only use cash to exchange there , either sterling or US dollars.

Have a great trip, it's a beautiful island.

Hi Jeannie

I went to SL in February with another company but with a similar itinery and it is a great place to go. There are lots of official change bureaus at the airport to get your SL rupees but take cash in pounds. There is no point before you go in changing pounds into dollars and then into rupees. Also although you may know this, make sure you register your debit/credit card with your banks before you leave as there are many atm's on the trip and you can also pay by credit card in hotels and shops.

Have a great trip
