I was surprised to be told yesterday that not only had my flight times been changed for one of my bookings, but the airline advertised had also been changed to two different airlines for outbound and return.

Part of my decision to book a tour always includes consideration of the airline advertised. There are some airlines I should prefer not to travel with.

I can understand the times being changed but how can there be a change of airline too? Apart from other considerations, this surely should reflect in the tour price?

Hi fleurbyfleur,

When we put together the brochures we always include the most up to date information that we have with regards to the carriers we use and their flight times. Unfortunately, since the brochure has been produced, British Airways have been unable to commit to the full allowance of seats required for the tour you have booked. The team have spent some time looking at an alternative solution which would prevent us having to disappoint all travellers by cancelling the trip and in this case, using two separate carriers as we fly into Malta and out of Sicily was the best option.

Kindest regards,

Julia

I wouldnt worry too much as I have travelled all over the world and find British Airways one of the worst. Yours Sue

But surely a change from BA to a budget, no-frills airline - without consultation - is unacceptable? I should have preferred a proper choice to change the holiday.

I also received a letter about flight alterations for this holiday. Mine said flights were in and out of Malta which somewhat confused me as I thought we flew into Malta and back from Sicily. I am disappointed on the change of carriers as BA flights was one of the reasons I was attracted to this holiday.

Life in the fast lane - We are aware that an error has been made on the original letter as it had you flying back from Malta instead of Catania. A new letter has been sent out to correct this

Hi Sue

Wouldn't agree with you. A BA flight is a pre-requirement as far as I am concerned. There are some, mostly budget, that I would not fly with even if they were free. Each to his own.

I agree, Sylvia. It's a game-changer for me. I'm so upset about this - I really don't want to go anymore.

At the point where BA withdrew their seats allocation, I would have chosen to back out of this holiday rather than have other airlines found for me. This is considered to be a 'minor change' - not in my book. One of the new

airlines is one I really would never wish to fly with 😞 It would have been courteous to invite our opinions

before going ahead with this change.

My experience with BA has always been good and have used them many times.

There is one solo traveller company which does ask, but it is not JY.

Hi I have travelled with many, many airlines over the years and never worry about which one I fly with - once they get me safely from A to B that's all that matters!

Best wishes,

Bob

Thanks, Bob. I know what you're saying. I, too, have flown with all kinds

of airlines - and sometimes there is no choice for a particular destination.

But sometimes I travel for adventure, and other times I'm looking for a little

bit of stress-free sun and luxury and I don't expect part of that to be a budget airline -

and one that I have bad experiences with in the past.

This is not a 'budget' holiday - this airline change is entirely inappropriate.

Sylvia - thank you and noted.

Bob

I am with you, I am not bothered about which airline as long as it gets me there and back safely it's the holiday that's important to me.

It is not easy to please everyone! Sometimes last minute changes have to be made due to unforeseen circumstances. I personally would not let this affect my holiday as in my experience life is not always smooth sailing. Having said this, I also appreciate everyone is different.
