Hi Julia

I thought I wrote a new thread for this enquiry but may be I deleted it, not sure anyway posting again.

I know times change but they don't change too drastically so I would like times and airline details entered into the itinerary of each tour. It is a pain to have to call the 0844 number (which is 10p per minute) just to find those details out when I can book online. Please get JY to consider this in the next brochure.

Hi Gailtravels,

You did write a post, I was waiting on a bit of information from one of my other colleagues....

We take great care to plan our holidays as far in advance as possible in order to deliver the very best experience, unfortunately this means that accurate flight schedules are not always available. Many of the flight times are only available nine months prior to departure, varying by airline, and are by no means final at this stage! Many of our holidays go on sale as much as 18 months prior to departure so this means that the flight times can change many times in between the brochure being printed and your departure date. For this reason, to avoid confusion, it was decided that it would be better not to state flight times on the brochure page as this information is often mistaken as final.

Indicative flight times are available when you make your booking or enquiry, and you can always ask here on the community as well. However we must stress that these too are subject to change.

In answer to the question on your original post.

For the Walking in Tuscany trip, this holiday is listed as British Airways between Heathrow and Pisa and the provisional timings are depart Heathrow 08:50. Arrive Heathrow 14:30. And, at the moment the group has 6 travellers booked.

If your flight is with BA and you go to ba.com you can put in flight details and it will show what times the flights are. Not helpful if there are several, but can be useful when there are only one or two, and you can tie the flight info in with itinerary details.

If your flight is with BA and you go to ba.com you can put in flight details and it will show what times the flights are. Not helpful if there are several, but can be useful when there are only one or two, and you can tie the flight info in with itinerary details.

I can quite understand why JY no longer include flight details in their brochures (I think they did until about 18 months ago). Of the 8 JY holidays I have taken so far, two had the flight times changed and one of these also moved to a different airline less than 3 months before travelling. Then yesterday I was told that the airline I was due to fly with from Birmingham in May has now changed its flying days to completely different ones - fortunately JY has managed to get me onto another airline, nearly 7 hours earlier than originally planned!

A change of times and airline doesn't bother me since when flying from London I always stay overnight at a hotel and the earlier Birmingham flight simply means that I shall have to get a taxi even before the crack of dawn, but I can see that if the flight times appeared to be set in stone from the very beginning and then had to be changed, one or two people could be very upset and even demand compensation even though JY wasn't at fault.

As for contacting JY Customer Services to find out the planned times, Gailtravels, may I suggest that you go into "Search" and then enter "JY telephone number" or a variant - you might be pleasantly surprised!

I am new to JY and was thinking about booking Malta and Sicily in May. I have been put off a little by the above comments as I live in Spain and will have to arrange flights to and from the UK to tie in with the holiday. I don't have an issue if I have to book UK accommodation either side of the holiday, but comments above seem to indicate that flight times and even days of departure can be changed. I can't change my UK flights without incurring an extra cost. I was starting to get quite excited about booking a holiday with JY but this has really put me off.

Thanks everyone it's not a massive issue of course and I am sorry to hear what a newbie is saying I went to Turkey in November and someone on our trip travelled all the way from Vancouver to be on the tour, I have been on may tours with JY nothing should put anyone off because apart from a few people who like to complain lot and believe me there is always a few except on the Turkey trip there were none which was a bonus, every trip has been very good. Newbie do not be put off you will have a great holiday!!!

Don't let airline changes/times put you off a JY holiday, Jacquie. I don't think the days the holidays start change (certainly not those I have been on), just SOMETIMES the airline and/or flight times. If you come over to the UK the day before your JY holiday and book into a hotel near either Gatwick or Heathrow (you'll find peoples' recommendations on the Forum if you go into "Search" and then enter either "Gatwick hotels" or "Heathrow hotels") that would take into account any outgoing flight changes. As for coming back, the flight times won't change suddenly (unless there are unforeseen events such as volcanic ash) so you would have plenty of time beforehand to make a hotel booking if a return to Spain that day wouldn't fit.

Do give it a try - I know JY holidays have folk on them who have come from all over Europe, not just the UK.

From the website if you go on the holiday you are looking at and select "Departures" tab it gives a list of dates the holiday runs.

On this page if you go to the box that says "flying from" it gives a pick list of airports, select your preferred airport and it will add the proposed outgoing flight time and the airline.:thumbup:

What it doesn't give is the return flight times which would also be very useful (Are you reading JY ?).

Someone we both know (female from Cliento in our crowd great laugh) is going on the Chicago trip you wrote a brilliant blog on, I told her to read it which he has done and now told me it has made he look forward to the trip even more, you are brilliant PR for the tours you have done with JY.
