Going to Costa Rica next year, do I take US Dollars or Costa Rican Colones? Have heard that both are acceptable - would welcome your advice. Many thanks

Hi brenliz,

Sorry for the delay in coming back to you on this.

The national currency for Costa Rica is the Colón but US Dollars are also widely accepted. It is worth noting that US Dollar Traveller Cheques are becoming extremely difficult to exchange. Currency rather than credit cards is essential in remote areas and your Tour Manager will be happy to advise you during the tour as to where you can exchange USD if required.

Kindest regards,
