Hi

I'm flying from Manchester on the Canada & New England in the Fall on 2/10/13.

Could you advise me on how much American and Canadian dollars to take with me?

Also could you tell me if any of the excursions overlap each other or would I be able to book to go on them all?

Also with the excursions could you tell me the difference between The New York New York helicopter flight @ £154 and The Big Apple helicopter flight @ £113

Lastly the Manchester flight is not direct to Boston but via Newark; do we have to recheck in our luggage at Newark for the onward flight to Boston?

Thank you so much; I look forward to hearing from you

Hi Tracy,

I hope the following helps - I'm sure some of our members may also contribute their own tips and experiences.

Currency

Breakfast is included on this holiday so in terms of meals you only need to budget for lunch and dinner. There is a wide choice available and you can eat quite cheaply or splash out a bit - when I travel to the states I tend to budget as if I were dining out in the UK. On top of that you may want to set a bit aside for any additional excursions or souvenirs. Its also worth noting that Credit Cards are widely accepted if you want to keep currency to a minimum - just remember to notify your bank before leaving the UK.

Excursions:

I'm just getting this double checked - I would hate for you to pre-book everything and not be able too

Flights:

Yes, my colleague has sent me the following guide for this:

- Follow signs for domestic flights

- Collect your luggage from the re claim area to be scanned by security as first point of entry into the States

- Drop off your bags once scanned, in the designated drop off area, to be placed onto their next flight

- Passenger to proceed to the gate with their already issued boarding pass, for their next flight

As soon as I hear about the excursions I will post again,

Kindest regards,

Julia

As promised here is the excursion information -

I can confirm that none of the excursions clash - you can do them all if you want! Below are the descriptions of the two helicopter flights - the main difference is the duration so you will see slightly more on the longer flight.

Helicopter Flight - The Big Apple (£ 113.00)

This very popular tour provides awe inspiring views of the Big Apple’s most iconic landmarks. As you soar above the famous Hudson River you will fly right by the magnificent Statue of Liberty in all of her glory. View Governors and Ellis Islands and see Manhattans Financial District before cruising past the cavernous landscape of the NYC skyline. Sights include the Empire State Building, Chrysler,Woolworth and Met Life Buildings and the USS Intrepid to mention a few. You will even catch a glimpse of the George Washington Bridge and the world renowned Central Park before heading back to the heliport.

Scenic Flight - Duration 12-15 minutes

Helicopter Flight - New York New York (£ 154.00)

Soar above New York Harbour to view all of New York City’s most captivating sights. Your tour begins down the Hudson River, flying by Manhattan’s Financial District, allowing for a birds eye view of the Statue of Liberty, the newly refurbished Governors Island, Ellis Island and the Verrazano Bridge. Your helicopter will then continue up the Hudson River towards Midtown where you will see all of New York City’s most famous skyscrapers, including the Empire State Building and the Chrysler building, along with the USS Intrepid, Central Park, St. John the Devine Cathedral, Columbia University, George Washington Bridge and the Palisades of New Jersey.

Scenic Flight - Duration 18-20 minutes
