Hi Julie,

I am wondering if you or another forum member can help me please? I am interested in going on the Moscow to St Petersburg holiday and have a query regarding the Russian visa.

I hold a UK passport but I am a British citizen resident in France. I telephoned your call centre with a general enquiry about how long the visa application would take as I needed to have some idea how long I would be without my passport. I was told that because I did not live in the UK you would be unable to apply for a visa for me and suggested that I researched how to apply myself on the internet as she did not have any idea what I needed to do apart from book the holiday and then hope the visa application was ok! I wondered if you had any further information you could give me on what I should do.

Also I can’t believe I’m the only non UK resident wanting to visit Russia (or other countries that require a visa) with Just You so maybe another forum member who has been in the same situation would be able to advise.

Many thanks

:shy:

Hi d17,

Sadly we are unable to process visa applications for customers who are not residents in the UK.

The Russian National Tourist Office have a section on their website all about the types of visas available and how to apply for them - I hope this information helps:

Kindest regards,

Hi I live in Ireland and have an Irish passport, so JY can't get me visas either. I've been to India and Vietnam/Cambodia over the last year or so and organised my own visas. For India, I went to the Indian embassy in Dublin, having already downloaded the visa form from the net and filled it out etc. I left it in one week and collected it a week later - very little hassle. For Vietnam/Cambodia there are no embassies in Ireland, so the London embassy is used. In this case, to make it simple for myself I used Trailfinders who have an office in Dublin and they processed the applications for me - again no hassle. So I suggest that you either go to the Russian visa website and find out what you have to do - either by applying to the Russian embassy in France, or use a French travel agency that has a visa department. Either way, I'm sure you will get it sorted with relatively little hassle. Just give yourself at least a month (I'd organise it around 3 months beforehand) so there is plenty of time for them to process it and get your passport back in good time.

Hope this helps!

Bob

Thank you for this - I have had a quick look a the website but it doesn't seem to cover my circumstances. I have emailed the Russian Tourist Office and asked for advice.

I wonder if any other forum members have had the same problem with visas either for Russia or other countries and if so how they dealt with it ???

Thanks Bob for your advice am looking at India after Russia so useful information for that trip as well.

I've just had a reply from the Russian tourist office in the UK.

There will be no problem getting my visa through them and they have outlined the steps for me to follow, have to say I'm very impressed with their customer service.

Anyway now I have sorted out how to get the visa I just need to book the holiday!!
