Hello Olly

I am thinking of doing the America’s National Parks and Canyons. I have always wanted to see the big saguaro cactus. Would we see any on this trip? Also one night it spent in Page, Arizona. Would it be possible to visit nearby Antelope Canyon. Thanks

Eileen

Hi Eileen

My colleague here has forwarded your question to our agents in the USA to answer, so I'll let you know when I hear more.

Kind regards

Hi Eileen

I've just heard back from one of our tour managers, Wendy Burdett.

She says: "Suguaro are seen in abundance in the southern desert area (ie Phoenix/Scottsdale) of Arizona. You will see literally 100s en route to Sedona. There are even one or two planted in the grounds of the hotel we use in Scottsdale. I think most tour managers make a designated stop ( I think from memory it is Jackass Acres) en route to Sedona where you can get off of the coach and be surrounded by and walk right up to Suguaro - rattlesnakes permitting!

"With regards to Antelope Canyon, the cruise which we offer on Lake Powell actually goes right into Antelope Canyon and as far up as is possible in a boat!"

I hope this helps.

Kind regards

Hi, just to say Wendy was our tour manager on this tour in Sep 2010 and we did stop off at Jackass Acres so got right up close to cactus. Fabulous trip, thoroughly recommend it.

Thanks Olly and KMcP

Do you know if it is possible to walk into Antelope Canyon on a tour?

Hi Eileen

As far as I know it is not an excursion that we offer. It might be possible to make your own arrangements to do this but this could mean missing one of the included tours. The best thing to do is have a word with your tour manager when you meet and see what is possible.

Kind regards
