Can you help me I'm thinking for booking the South African Explorer trip, but I would like to know when is the best time of the year to go, I don't like the weather too hot, nor do I fancy the rainy season. But I would probably like to do the Victoria Falls add on. Can you help me decide ?
Thanks

Hi Jackie,
I did this trip including the add on last year. I went in September/October and the weather was just right. It is spring in South Africa at that time of year so it is not too hot.
From Cape Town along the coast to Port Elizabeth it was really lovely. It was sunny but the temperatures were probably only in the lower 20's Centigrade. From Durban onwards it got a couple of degrees warmer but it was still comfortable and in fact we had a couple of cloudy days with a thunder storm.
In Zambia it was sunny and definately hotter probably in the mid 30's Centigrade but it wasn't excessive although I did need the sun cream. Bear in mind the Victoria Falls are not at their best at this time of year however as the water level in the Zambezi River is low.
It is still a spectacular sight and I would recommend the optional trip in a helicopter to get a birds eye view, only then do you get a full appreciation of the scale and size.
I had a wonderful time and would highly recommend the holiday. Also do as many of the optional trips as you can, the cost builds up but they are well worth it.
