Hi,

Are there any 5-8 days holidays departing from Birmingham International airport? I live in Redditch, Worcs, and will be travelling alone. I find it difficult to cope with carting luggage about and airports, so was hoping for a holiday with a direct flight from my local airport - Birmingham.

Hope you can help.

Morning Carrie,

Thanks for your question and I fully appreciate your situation. However, we dont not have holidays that depart directly from birmingham, but what we do have is connecting flights to the departing airport, which will be either Heathrow or Gatwick. This means, once you check your bag in at Birmingham, you will not have to worry about it until you reach your destination abroad, as you do not have to transfer your bag yourself from your connecting flight to you main departure flight. All you need worry about is getting yourself from your connecting flight to the gate for your next flight,

Our holiday advisors are more than willing to help you discuss your queries also and can give you more detail on the procedure as they are better placed,

I hope this helps,

All the best,

Ben

Hi Carrie

I’m afraid Ben’s answer to your question is incorrect, Birmingham airport DO NOT do connecting flights.

Sometimes when you receive a brochure they also supply a separate flight information leaflet, look for Birmingham flights, however there a few holidays listed that they do not fly to. They need to update this.

Alternately look for a holiday you like click on departures then click on departing from it will show you all the airports for that holiday, click again and it will show flight times.

I live in the West Midlands so also despair at the lack of flights from Birmingham. I have travelled by National Express to Heathrow approx. 3 hours you are dropped off at the terminal you want then you only have to get your case into the airport and out again if it is a morning flight I go down the day before. I found it very easy to do not too much lugging a case around. You would have to get to Birmingham coach station so I don’t know how difficult that would be for you. Travelling to Heathrow does open a lot more choice for holiday especially long haul.

A few holidays showing from Birmingham are Costa de la Luz, Treasures of Andalucía, Mallorca, Lake Como, Lake Garda, Japan.

Hope this helps

Chris.

sorry if you get this twice

Hi Carrie

Chris is right - I'm afraid we don't offer connecting flights from Birmingham.

We do offer 12 holidays with direct flights from Birmingham, which are listed on p140 of the latest brochure. In addition to the places Chris mentioned, our holidays flying from Birmingham include Albi & Carcassonne, Norwegian Fjords, Riviera Splendour, Istanbul & Anatolia, Istanbul, and Argentina & Brazil.

A few people have asked about flights from Birmingham recently, so this might be something we can look at in the future.

Kind regards,

Olly, your editor

I was looking for a flight from b'ham but there were only a few hols left in May so Stansted it is. I travel light and go by national Express, so much easier than trains, this takes you straight to the airport

Hi Carrie,

Fraid so, we Midlanders are the 'forgotten few' - there are so few choices of airports for us. Hardly any flights departing from Birmingham or East Midlands (only the ones Olly has pointed out) and no connecting flights.

It's a shame because I do think it deters some of us Midlanders from taking their first trip because it adds to the angst of going alone to an airport for the frist time - but we intepid few still go trekking off to Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted in order to get where we want to go. I sometimes feel like we live in 'no man's land' - neither North nor South. There just ain't no justice in the world!!!

Try not to let it deter you from going though - I know you will have a great holiday for all the trials and tribulations. Good Luck and Enjoy!

Be happy,

Best wishes,

Lesley

PS: I'm trekking off to Heathrow to go to China on Tuesday. Hey Ho - that's Life!

Hi Carrie. Although there is limited flights connecting or otherwise from Midland Airports. An alternative to this could be to try a coach holiday to Which Just You do several. In addition to this. They do have several pick ups points in the Midlands Area. It is also a very good start to your Just You experience. And you will have very little of the carting of Luggage

I too live in the Midlands and had a problem with the coach getting to Heathrow last year. In the end my darling daughter dropped me off and then picked me up. This time I am going to Lake Garda and for an extra £10 I am going from Birmingham. Shall be going to Milan, the others are going to Venice from Gatwick I think -what transport do I get and is there anyone else going the same route on June 21st?

Thanks, Jan.

Hi Jan

I don't have any information about how many others are flying Birmingham to Milan but I can tell you that you'll be met by a driver who will take you and any other Midlanders to your hotel. Look out for the Just You logo when you get to the arrivals area in Milan. The type of vehicle will depend on how many of you there are and what is available but my guess is that it will be a large, comfortable taxi.

Thank you Olly for your reply, I feel a lot happier knowing there will be a driver for me and any others on this trip. Jan.

Hi Carrie,

I got back from the China trip early yesterday evening. I flew from Heathrow and to be honest I was dreading it. But guess what? No problem.

I drove down on the morning of my flight and left my car whilst I was away and when I returned I had a night in the Premier Inn next door as I knew I would be tired from the 11 hour return flight. Then I drove back early this morning after a good night's sleep. No traffic to worry about at that time either.

So I would certainly not let having to fly from Heathrow put me off any future trips.

I hope this puts your mind at rest, should you go for a trip leaving from Heathrow.

Have a great holiday.

Be happy,

Best wishes,
