Hi Cheryl

I am going to China in September with Just U and would like to know what currency is best to take and should I take Sterling travellers cheques or Dollar travellers cheques. Also what are the average temperatures for that time of year.

Thanks in advance for your help

Hello ChristineThanks for your message.CurrencyFor your information, the national currency in China is the Renminbi Yuan (RMBY).I would recommend you take sterling cash and travellers cheque - you will possibly get a better exchange rate if you take sterling as you won't have to change your currency twice. Major credit cards are also accepted, but please do check with your card issuer first.ClimateChina has 4 distinct seasons, like the UK. February and March can be very cold. The further south you travel the warmer it becomes so Shanghai is quite pleasant, even in the winter.April, through to early May, and then September and October are very good times to travel as the temps are warm and sunny. End of May, June, July and August can be very hot and humid, November is cool but sunny. The rainy season is from June to September.Due to its size, China has a huge diversity of climates. The northeast has hot dry summers and bitterly cold winters. The north and central region has regular rainfall, hot summers and cold winters. The southeast has substantial rainfall with semi-tropical summers and cool winters. For anyone else visitng China in Jan, Feb, March, please remember to wrap up well as much of your time will be spent out and about. You must take a warm coat, hat, gloves, and warm footwear. The Chinese cope with the temperature by wearing several layers and i'd recommend that you plan to do the same. Well - I hope this has answered everything for you Christine. September's approaching fast so not long now!!Take careCheryl, your editor

I'm off to China in September too, and that's just the question I wanted to ask - thank you! Wonder if Christine + I will be on the same holiday? I'm doing Wonder of China with the Hong Kong add-on on 12th September, and can't wait!
