Hello,

I am thinking of booking this trip and would be my first solo trip with Just you. Keen to hear from anyone who is booked on this trip or who has done this trip.

Thank you very much

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn

This was my 1st trip with JY in May 2017 and it was a superb holiday. Make sure you do all the excursion although it is a fairly busy trip it is at a fairly relaxed pace and you have plenty of time to see everything. The Agrigento tour is certainly a must see. Mount Etna is a experience worth doing as well although when we went we got caught up in the 'Giro Italia' (Cycle race) which made for an interesting afternoon and 4 hours in an excellent service station with a bar while we waited for the roads to reopen to get back to our Hotel.

Unfortunately I can't comment on the Hotels as I see on the website they have changed from the ones we stayed at. The change to Hotel Nettuno in Catania looks like an absolutely fabulous hotel (Trip advisor) We stayed in Antares hotel in Letojanni which was good but a lot of steps and lift etc to get down to the beach and coach. I am surprised that JY has changed from Acacia Resort hotel which was a superb hotel to a choice of 2 Hotels in the centre of Palermo.

Maybe Vickie can explain their reasoning for that had the trip not been half board I can see that restaurants would be required and the Acacia was out on its own. Maybe JY are considering dropping some of the evening meals for future trips.

Website map still showing original Hotel locations.

Take the plunge and go for it you certainly won't regret it and you will meet a excellent group of fellow travellers and you will be looking at booking your next one when you return.

I have also done Highlights of Tuscany (May 18) and Calabria (May 19) and probably Cilento Coast or Puglia (May 20) see I told you it was addictive.

Enjoy your travels.

Hi Vickie

In case you missed it in my reply to Carolyn do you know when and why the obviously recent change in the Brochure Hotels on this trip. Is this due to that old nugget customer feedback as I thought Acacia Resort was superb.

Many thanks

Paul

Hi Vickie

I appreciate you and the team have probably been somewhat tied up in the B A problems but you did ask the team about a fortnight ago about the reason for the Hotel change and I assume you have heard nothing back.

Hi Paul,

Sorry for the delay, I have the answer now:

We only change from the Acacia to Palermo city centre hotels in August departures as it is peak time for Italian holidays and hotel resorts such as the Acacia tend to get booked up by Italian tourists. Also, rates are much higher and we struggle to get availability for a group in August which would make it very pricey for the customer.

We will continue to use the Acacia in 2020 but again same as this year we may have to change hotels for August.

I hope this helps.

Many thanks,

Vickie

Hi Vickie

I'm pleased the Acacia Resort is still being used as I thought it was a superb hotel. Does the same principle apply to the Antares or is that a permanent change.

Hi Vickie

Sorry if I'm being a pain but I usually check my holidays on the website and it is showing Hotel Nettuno and the two Palermo Hotels as the accommodation and if as you say these are only used in August (one trip in August 2020 showing on list) how would I know these are not the hotels used for all the other departures. If I was thinking of booking in June I may possibly have second thoughts after looking at the Palermo Hotels.

Hi Paul,

The Antares will still be used apart from August ?

Thanks

Hi again Paul,

You're right about the website. It should show the accommodation for the next upcoming tour date, if that makes sense? But there appears to be a glitch. Our web team are looking into this now, thanks for bringing it to our attention.

If anyone is looking at a particular date I can check our internal system to confirm the accommodation, while we fix the glitch.

Many thanks,

Vickie

Hi Carolyn

I can comment on the hotels now as website had a slight hic-cup and was showing the wrong hotels (August only). The Antares Hotel is very good and the food and the views are excellent the only slight downside is lots of steps down plus a small lift to get down to the beach and bus pick up.

The Acacia Resort is an excellent hotel with superb pool and short walk to the beach. The bar and lounge area is also fairly large and we did slightly upset the bar manager when we moved the furniture around so we could all sit as a group but he came round to our way of thinking!!! If you get any free time if you turn left out of the gate and walk about 5 minutes there is a lovely little cafe where we had lunch one day but nothing else close by.

If you have half the fun we had you will have a great holiday.

Enjoy

Paul

Hi Vickie

Sorry to be a pain but the glitch still seems to be in situ as the wrong hotels are still showing. Only thinking of fellow travellers if I saw that second hotel was in the centre of Palermo I would have second thoughts about booking and therefore may put off some that would really like to go.

Hi Paul,

Not a pain at all, thank you for bringing this to my attention. Our web team have updated the page again, so it should be showing the correct hotels very shortly.

Many thanks,

Vickie
