I'm going on a Just You tour for the very first time in October to Peru, I am both excited and nervous in equal measures.  I have travelled in Europe on my own several times but never traveled as part of a group.

Just wondering if anyone else is booked on this holiday?

Hi Debbie,

I did this trip with just you a few years ago and loved it Although not my first it was just as enjoyable. Here is what I wrote then .....

"I did this trip last November and it was fantastic especially the Amazon add on. If you search through previous posts using the therm "Peru" you will find lots of tips including a link to photos of someone who had been previously.

The best advice I can give is drink lots and lots of water to avoid altitude effects and the coca tea (a bit like green tea) is free and available in all the hotels. we all felt it a bit but one man more than anyone else because he didn't drink enough. (there are always toilets nearby so the normal "see one use one" applies)

its very informal so you don't need lots of clothes but be prepared for cold due to the altitude. if you are doing the Amazon take a head torch rather than a normal one as you will need both hands. I prepared so much for the biting things on the first night but didn't bother much after that as didn't seem to be a problem. you can take walking boots but they get a bit muddy so wellington boot socks and wear the ones they provide. ............

Dont be nervous ( Iknow thats easy to say but you will be in good company seeing things that are amazing

I went on this trip October 2017 and it was fabulous. It was my first Solo holiday and I too was very nervous but the people on it were great, all in the same boat so to speak. In October, we found it very warm.

I would mirror everything ksf1 has said above. I did the tour in June 2017 including the Amazon add on and had a fabulous time. Do take precautions regarding the altitude the coca tea is good and you should definitely partake. I found the most difficult time was at Puno.

I stayed at the Helliconia Lodge on the Amazon, right on the river and in only 10 minutes you are in the heart of the jungle. The group pulls together in a situation like this and the camaraderie is wonderful. You will not regret this trip of a lifetime.

Have a brilliant holiday ! !

Hi Keith

Thanks for the advice, I will certainly take it on board and I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

Hi Debbie

I'm also travelling to Peru in October this year - we'll be there in less than a month.  Wow!

I've done group holidays for single travellers to Europe before but only really sun, sea and sand type holidays.  Like you I'm both excited and nervous but am sure that I'll have an amazing time as I know that I will meet like minded people on the trip.

I look forward to meeting you.
