Hi all, looking to book my first holiday alone and came across this site.  I’m a little apprehensive but I’m keen to do it ? Everyone seems so friendly!

I’m considering booking the Italy trip to Sorrento etc. in Aug or Sept, has anyone been on this trip and can provide feedback?

Thanks

Tracy

Hi

Have just seen your post. I have been to the Sorrento area twice, although not with JY, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The scenery is lovely, the weather is usually warm and sunny and there is plenty to do and see.

My advice is go for it!

Hi Tracy

Welcome to the Community! Pompeii, Sorrento and the Bay of Naples is a great trip to choose for your first JY adventure. I did it in September 2015 and loved it. If you put Pompeii into the search facility on the top right of the page you will find loads of reviews and thoughts from people like me.

If you decide to go ahead, my top tips would be take very comfy, closed toed walking shoes because the paved areas at the ruins themselves are very uneven, as is the cinder path up Vesuvius. Also, take a hat, as there is very little shade and drink loads of water (You can refill your water bottle safely and free from the ancient drinking fountains around Pompeii). Finally, try the local granita because it's very refreshing in the heat and also, if you like gelato and/or pastries, head for De Vivo - it's a local gelateria and bakery half way between your hotel and the ruins. My group quickly adopted it as our 'local' - it's fab UserPostedImage

Happy to help if you have any other questions once you've read the reviews

All the best

Mandy

Hi Tracy

I like you came across JY  3 years ago and since then have been with them to Sicily, Tuscany and Calabria and am deciding on next year's trip either Cilento Coast or Puglia. I wish I had found them earlier so my advice is to go for it you certainly won't regret it as once you arrive at the departure airport everything is taken care of and you will meet a superb group of fellow travellers. I haven't been to Sorrento etc with JY but I did go on my own about 5 years ago and it is a excellent place. Be sure to take the Almalfi trip and Herculaum is better and more compact than Pompeii. If you type 'Pompeii' into the search box top right you will get an idea of the trip. So book and enjoy.

Enjoy your travels.

Paul

I did this holiday last year and I'm sure I put a review on. You'll love this trip and don't worry about booking with JY as everyone is friendly and you're sure to make friends on the trip.
