Hi I stayed here on my first JY holiday back in 2010.  I found the TRH Mijas to be absolutely fine - the rooms were clean and spacious with balconies and the hotel is nicely laid out in a typical Andalucian style.  The food was buffet and to my mind it was perfectly acceptable - fairly typical of buffets although some people were disappointed in it.  If you bought a bottle of wine and didn't finish it, the staff would cork it and put your room number on it and you could finish it at your leisure.  The hotel is in a great situation, at the edge of the village and within easy walking distance of the centre.  It is on a slope, so not ideal if you have any kind of mobility issues.  Hope this helps.  Perhaps someone who has been there more recently could also comment!  More importantly, this is a great tour with very enjoyable excursions.  At the end of the day, the hotel is just somewhere that you have breakfast and dinner and sleep, so you probably won't be spending too much time there anyhow!

All the best,

Bob

Hi, have stayed a couple of times with JY at the Hotel Midas, once on the Treasures of Andalucia, once on the Andalucia Golden Circle. The first holiday we stayed all week, the second time first and last nights. The hotel is situated  just out of the centre of Mijas Pueblo, about 5 minute walk to the square etc. The hotel is off the main road, slightly down the hill. On arrival, the bus cannot get to the front of the hotel, it's on a bend, so luggage is transferred in a minibus. Passengers walk down to the hotel, via a flight of steps, the front of the hotel is cobbled, not best is mobility is a bit challenged,. The hotel has a fabulous view down to the sea (public bus is frequent and inexpensive down to the sea, it's a few miles). Both times I have had a nice comfy room, never had any complaints. Food I have always found good, plenty of choice, lovely salad buffet, never had a problem with meals, but as usual it didn't suit all. Outdoor swimming pool, towels hired for week from reception, wifi in bar area. Village lovely, plenty to do, lovely squares, churches, horse carriage/ donkey taxi around village. Shrine to Virgin Mary in a small cave in village centre that's popular attraction, lovely folk type museum, other museums, plenty of cafes and shops. Many of JY folk wandered into village at night, picturesque. There was free flamenco performance in main square Friday, but not sure if it still happens, when I went last year they were doing lots of work to roads etc and improving square so not sure about that.

Hi. I stayed in that hotel for 2 nights in June. I was on the Andalucian Golden Triangle trip. So I stayed 1 night at beginning of tour and 1 night at the end of the tour. It is a lovely hotel. Good food. Big pool and lovely views.

Hi, I stayed there two years ago, we were all put on ground level with a terrace which I did not like very much , it was September & for a few nights it felt quite cold , had to put a blanket on my bed ! The reception/bar area is really nice as is the view from the bar/balcony but the rooms & bathrooms could do with updating , the carpet in my room was very dirty. Having said that its a great location & I had a great week there, the optional tour to the Alhambra Palace is a must see ! A good holiday , just make the most of it .

Hello

I went on this holiday in September last year and liked it so much I went again in June this year! Lovely hotel, with good clean rooms and the food was absolutely fine. I went on all of the free excursions the first time but only did one this last time because I wanted to do my own exploring. We were advised the last time, to carry a photocopy of our passports with us as we might be asked for it. There is a shop in Mijas that will copy it for you, the man will also do a credit card sized laminate copy, but if you want to save your pennies it would be best getting yours copied before you go.

I'm sure you will enjoy your holiday 🙂

Hi, last September, with 2 other JY travellers, we had a beautiful meal at El Mirlo Blanco, Mijas. It's at the bottom of the square beyond the chocolate shop, and at the bottom of the road that leads up to the bullring. They have a lovely terrace that looks over the square, it seemed to be a family run business, good quality food, we had a lovely evening. They have their own website, lots of photos on it, so have a look. One of my dinner companions that evening recommended it to friends at home who were visiting just after, and he told me they had really enjoyed it. Have a lovely time.
