I'm here to say hello to you lot!

Hope you're all doing well. I'm new to this site, and indeed solo holidaying in general. I've figured that the best way for me to do a solo holiday and meet people, is to probably go on a walking holiday.

Any other walking holidayers out there? Would be good to chat and hear about places you recommend visiting.

If you want a chat, please say hello!

Hello, thanks for the friendly post!  Unfortunately I'm not into walking holidays but quite a lot of the JY folks are - of course, most do not use the forum but I'm sure you'll get a few replies.  Hope you go on a JY hol soon - I've done 15 with two more booked, best decision I made in years!

Cheers,

Bob

Hello johnbobs1,

I have just booked A Stroll Through the Cotswolds. It will be my first walking holiday with JY, but if I enjoy it half as much as my previous JY holidays I will be well pleased!

Be brave! I'm sure you will enjoy whatever holiday you choose  🙂

Kind regards,

Lesley

Welcome johnbobs1! I've booked my first ever walking holiday in September to Tuscany and am looking forward to the challenge - kidding! - seems the walks are at a fairly relaxed pace - with half day walks rather than all day! This should be an interesting trip with every other day for sightseeing excursions to historic towns. I can't offer you any advice I posted on the forum a while ago to ask for any tips what to take etc. I was lucky someone replied with a few suggestions this was helpful but as Bob says not all Jyers use the forum. Anyway good luck I hope you find a JY walking trip that appeals to you and also hope some walkers reply to you soon

Best wishes ElizabethF

Hi johnbobs1,

I ahve done several walking holidays with JY. Last year I went on the Active Croatia trip which was mainly walking but did include a mountain bike ride and some canoeing, and earlier this year I was on the Walking in Nepal trip. I am currently looking forward to walking the levadas in Madeira later this year.

All the walking holidays I have been on have been very good and those taking part have always mixed well.

I would suggest that you decide where you would like to go and take the plunge.

Hello Johnbobs1,

I walked the Yorkshire Dales last year with Min. Great fun until Day 2 and an old injury played up to my L knee. Although there were a lot of elderly people, they all belong to walking groups and left us young 'uns behind

Hello, Well I've taken the plunge and booked my first holiday on my own, Walking the Levadas , really looking forward to it and apprehensive at the same time. I too thought that a walking holiday would be a good introduction to solo holidays and give me the confidence to do other holidays.

Apparently when I booked there are now 14 on the holiday and it is going .

Pre - contact with any one else on the trip would be good, I am booked on the Manchester flight and will be travelling from the Worksop area so if any one wants a lift to the airport just shout.
