Honestly I am going senile. :s  this is the 'confused' face !

I have everything sorted for my holiday in 2 weeks time to Croatia  [ or so I thought ] but I was just looking on the Croation Airlines site for info  and realised its Kuna there not Euros. I think I went wrong knowing you can use your EHIC card there so just presumed it was Euros. Better get working out how much I need. Any input urgently welcomed

Hi there Sue.  I'm a bit of a "old hand" with Croatia, so I hope I can help a bit.  Yes, you will need Kuna for Croatia, and to make this trip a bit more interesting, (if you are going on the Dubrovnik trip), you will need a small amount of Euros for going into Montenegro.  They are not in the E.C but do use the Euro.  Yes, it is confusing!  If you are going to Istrian Coast (you haven't mentioned which trip you are going on), and plan to go into Slovenia on the optional tour, again you will need a small amount of Euros.

So to deal with the Kuna question first.  You can get them in advance from a bank etc, but I have always found that you have to order them a bit in advance), just give it a couple of days, although this might not be necessary, better to be safe than sorry.  I would only take what you think you will need for the first couple of days, just so you can get a few drinks etc.  If you are based in Cavtat (for the Dubrovnik trip), there are a couple of ATM'S in the village itself, and I would imagine that you might find that your hotel has an ATM too.  In any case you re in Dubrovnik for part of your first full day, and they certainly have ATM's so you can change money.  (Remember to alert your bank that you are going away, and where, this can generally be done on online banking these days).

If you are going on the Istrian Coast trip (one of my favourite places 🙂 ), the hotel does not change money, but there is at least one ATM in the town, (turn left coming out of the hotel, and follow the road down).

I hope that this message gets moderated speedily for you, and that it helps.  If you have any more questions and I can help, please feel free to ask.  Do you know who your T.M is yet?

Hi Susan

I have just started a new post on Croatia but came across this.  I have bought Kunas but will take some spare Euros with me as well.  Must admit the money is a bit confusing :s  i.e. how much to take etc.  It is not as though we can use the Kunas another time except if we go to Croatia again.

I look forward to meeting up with you either at Gatwick airport or when we get to Croatia.

All the best

Angela

PS Thought it might be sunny there but not sure looking at the forecast.
