I am in my late sixties and am keen to go to India to see the Taj Mahal but am a bit apprehensive about travelling alone. However, I am determined to rediscover my spirit of adventure and I think I just need a word of encouragement before booking. Please help!

Hi Sheila

Don't be apprehensive about booking - it will probably end up being the best thing you've done this year  😃. You will not be travelling alone - you will be travelling with like minded people who are all looking for a good holiday and some good company. I've been several times with Just You and have loved every holiday. The fellow travellers are usually a mixed bunch of all ages but you'll always find someone to talk to and get along with. I hope you take the first step and book this fabulous holiday then enjoy everything India and Just You have to offer. Jan

Go for it you will have a great time.

Watch the marigold hotel programme on TVs will give you an idea what to expect. Clyde is

Hi Sheila,

Just book it! This is a fantastic tour. You will not be travelling alone - you will be in a group of fellow solo travellers. The Taj Mahal is the most beautiful building I have ever seen - and I've travelled a lot.

Enjoy!

Cheers,

Hils

You won,t be alone Shelia when you get to the airport there will be a just you rep there and properly 29 other just you travellers all going to India as well, if you leave your just you label visble on your hand luggage then other, just you travellers will know you are with just you and will approach you and chat to you and then  once you get to India you will be apart of a group. I am also thinking about doing this tour, around November/ December time.

Hi Sheila,

First of all, travelling with Just You does not mean that you are travelling alone. Once you arrive at the airport you will be greeted by a JY rep and/or tour manager, and you will be able to meet your travelling companions in the executive lounge before boarding your flight.

You do not say when you were hoping to visit India, but I thought I should let you know that the Taj Mahal is due to undergo a facelift this year. This involves applying a 'mud-pack' treatment which is designed to restore the whiteness and gleam to the marble. Three of the four minarets have already undergone this process, with the fourth expected to be completed within the next few months. The additional work planned means that the entire dome will be obscured by scaffolding during the cleaning process, and portions of the white marble facade will be covered for 2-3 days at a time. Work is due to begin next month with March 2018 being the deadline for completion, although I understand that dates have yet to be finalised.

If seeing the Taj is your prime reason for visiting India, and I can well understand that it may be, then you may wish to keep this restoration process in mind when planning your visit. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I hope this information helps you to coordinate your visit at a suitable time.

Cheers

Mike

Hi Sheila

I can appreciate you feeling a bit apprehensive about travelling alone, but I can assure you that you will be fine.

I went on my first Just You tour in 2005 and that was to India and loved every minute of it, after initially being very nervous.

The worst part of the holiday is actually travelling to the airport. Once you arrive at the airport look for the JY luggage labels and the airport rep. From that minute you are not travelling alone..

You will certainly rediscover your spirit of adventure and could possibly end up like many of us totally addicted to travelling and JY.

Book the holiday you want, you won't regret it.

Kind regards

Di

Hi Sheila

I did this trip in 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a very busy tour but yo see and do so much.

Have been travelling with JY since 2010 and have done both long and short hsul tours.

My advice is book the holiday and enjoy the experience.

Hi Sheila,

I can promise you, that on a JY holiday you will never be alone unless you want to. Most people meet up with other single travellers at the airport before they even board the flight and once you are at your destination you will soon make friends and share every wonderful moment of your holiday with like minded people. So go on, make the booking, I know you wont regret it...

Hi Sheila

Although I haven't done this trip I have done many others. If this is somewhere you have always wanted to see then go for it otherwise you might regret it. I have enjoyed great company on every trip i have been on and the sights you will see are magical.

No need to be apprehensive just have fun.

Hi Sheila

My first JY holiday was to India in 2012 and I was in my mid sixties at the time. It was quite a lovely revelation to me. India was fantastic and we went to places and saw things that a few years previously I'd never imagined I'd get to. The company is great especially as you soon realise just how many like minded people you are with and it really is the start of a new adventure in life. Since then I've been to S.Africa (my favourite), Canada, New York and Europe. This year am off to Kenya. It's opened up a whole new world for me and I know many JY people could tell you exactly the same. Go for it, you'll be so glad you did!!

Best wishes Sue

Do it !    Do it !    Do it !

I did this trip last year (2016) and had a fabulous time, so did the ladies on the trip.  The thing about JY holidays is that you start off as a bunch of strangers and very quickly become almost family. The camaraderie increases daily and there is always someone to help if you have a problem.

You are never on your own unless you want to be and then that is respected.   The age span of my group was a young lady of 23 through to a lady and a gentlemen both in their 70's.  We all had a marvellous time.

Don't hesitate. Just Do it.      🙂

Hello Sheila,

I shall book India when they add Shimla to the tour with Taj Mahal. I only want to go once as there is so much else that I want to see in the World.

My 11th trip with JY is to New Zealand in October- been on my To Do list for the last 20 years and yes- finally going 🙂
