Hello,

I'm off to Borneo in May, and I'm not sure whether to get vaccinated for Japanese encephalitis, does anyone have any advice? It's only 'to be considered' for Sabah and apparently is only higher risk in very rural areas near rice paddies and for more long term travellers. I'm only unsure because the vaccine is very expensive, but I'm leaning towards getting it because you can't really put a price on your health!

Just interested in othere people's thoughts. Thanks 🙂

Hi Alice,

I've done a lot of long haul tours over the last few years and have been vaccinated against most things at this stage!  My practice said there was no need for the JE vac for Borneo.  But obviously if you'd be happier getting it, then that's up to you!  This is another fab JY tour, hope you have a great time!
