Good morning all.  :)

I would like to ask a few questions of previous visitors on this holiday.  There are a couple of reviews on the thread but they are quite old, so I would welcome any advice.

Barcelona included trip.  Is the time in the city completely free please, or do we get a guided introductory walk in?  I'm not very good in big cities, (potentially on my own), so I would welcome thoughts on this.

Figures and Rosas (optional excursion).  The walking guide on the trip states minimal walking.  How much time is given at the museum please, and how much at Rosas?

Gerona.  (optional excursion).  I note that this is a half day excursion.  How much time is actually spent in the city?

The hotel.

Concerns about noise, both inside and outside of the hotel have always put me off this holiday, but I guess  earplugs will suffice, and also going right at the start of the season!  I have recently been diagnosed Type 2 diabetes, so hope that there is plenty of choice of salads.  🙂   I see that the hotel has a small spa, but can find no indication on the hotel website that the small spa pool is free or not.  Again, any advice is welcome.

Thank you!

Hi Elaine

I went on this trip at the end of September 2012, eighteen months before I met you on the Slovenia trip.

The Barcelona trip consisted of a coach tour of the city with a stop and a short walk to the Sagrada Familia but there might have been more on/off stops had it not been for the torrential rain. We were left in the main square near the top of Las Ramblas after the coach tour but our time in Barcelona was cut short due to the rain.

We had about two and a half hours in Figueras, most of the time in the Dali Museum with a ten minute walk to the coach and about two hours in Rosas.

Gerona - we were there for about four hours - the old town is on a steep hill with the modern city centre on level ground. The coach drop off/pick up was between the two.

I do remember at the hotel being disturbed by other guests leaving the hotel during the night, but other than that I can't recall that it was noisy outside the hotel. I only saw the pool outside the hotel but didn't venture into the spa. I think there was a good choice of salads - I do remember the Russian Salads when I was there.

Hello Bosuncat

I did this trip last September. In Barcelona you get a walking tour of the Sagrada Familia for about an hour and then a two hour coach tour. You then get let loose on Las Ramblas for a couple of hours. Most people walked up and down in groups.

The optional excursion to Figures and Rosas I cannot tell you about as it was cancelled due to lack of support.

Gerona was a lovely old town, we got about 2 hours there which was long enough to see everything as it is a small centre.

The hotel was lovely, I had a room facing the hotel opposite but was not bothered by noise, all music stopped before midnight. There was no noise inside the hotel.

Food:- There was a very good salad bar each evening and a good choice of cooked food. The deserts were excellent but I guess you won't be having those.

I never used the spa as I didn't know it was there until halfway through the holiday. I went down to look but it was closed. There was a table for massage and a small gym and a library. Didn't notice a pool but that doesn't mean there wasn't one.

This was a nice relaxing holiday with the beach just across the road from the hotel. A boat to Tossa De Mar goes from about 100 metres up the beach. This is a nice day out.

I think you would be OK as I didn't do a great deal of walking.

Thank you Sandra.

I think I will go to Gerona, but not the other.  I had seen that there was a boat that goes to Tossa so I might do that.  Thanks also for your thoughts on the hotel

🙂
