  Hello.....have just joined this forum. I am a widow ( 15 months), in my early 70's.

I am trying to pick up the courage to travel alone, particularly at Xmas this year as the "normal" thing is so hard to do. Would there be other people "alone"?

I love meeting people and seeing new places.

Hi,

I know what it is like to be alone at Christmas, that is why I always go away! I have done Italy/Croatia, Italy/Slovenia with JY and Italy/Austria with Travelsphere over the Xmas and New Year period. I would thoroughly recommend going with JY as you are looked after so well and you will meet some interesting people. The media have already started going on and on about Christmas - and it is still September - so if you book one of the JY trips now, you will have something to look forward to at Christmas.

Cheers,

Hils

Hello Mag.I too am a widow.(15mnths also.) So difficult.I have plucked up the courage to "go it alone) so to speak.? I have booked one of JU holidays to Cilento, but not until June 2017.Hope I'll be feeling more confident by then.? Looking forward to being in a lovely place with fellow JY travellers.Received encouragement and advice from the wonderful people on the community forum as I'm sure you will too. Hope I've helped.Best wishes to you. Dorrie.?

I've  never been away for Christmas as a "single" but on all of my JY long and short haul holidays, I have always enjoyed the company of my travelling  companions.  Choose  somewhere you haven't  been before  and look forward to a great time.

Hi Mag, I am a widower 75yrs in November,I usually go with brothers family out for Xmas but t is getting very boring,so decided to go to Vietnam,Cambodia and Laos instead while still able to travel long haul.I have been on quite a few JY holidays and are always very good.the age range is wide and I expect I will be the oldest on this one.Went to Cuba last year and had a great time.So take the plunge, you will not regret it.

Regards

Kennet  My real name is Ken.

Hello Lonely Mag,

Since losing my wife I have been on many Christmas and New Year holidays with JY and have thoroughly enjoyed them all. It is really great to celebrate as part of a friendly group all of whom are single. These have included France, Austria (Salzburg), Slovenia and Iceland. Really it is a matter of picking a holiday that appeals to your particular tastes and then going for it!

You will not be disappointed.

Hi Mag

Being on your own over xmas and the new year can be pretty boring so this year I will be touring Thailand. Be brave and find somewhere you would like to go and you won't regret it as you will meet many like minded people.

I've done a couple of Christmas trips with Just You and thoroughly enjoyed them, if you can cope with long haul flights I'd recommend Vietnam at Christmas, we had a fantastic feast on Christmas Eve with a show at the hotel, then Christmas day arrived in Ho Chi Minh city where the atmosphere is great

I lost my husband two years ago after a lengthy illness. He never wanted to travel further a field. I needed to get away and have some 'Me' time. My son found JY while searching for a holiday co. I went on my first JY holiday on a 22 day tour to Australia in March 2015. I was nervous and anxious thinking about going with strangers and without my husband. I had the best holiday, enjoyed myself. So much so that I went to China last year during the Xmas/New Year period. Two great holidays in one year. Now I will be going to South Africa and Zambia in Nov, very much looking forward to it.

So, have go, you will love it.

Hello Lonely Mag, I too am a widow, in my late 60s.  I've done two previous holidays (September 2013 and September 2014) with Just You, both successful and yes there are other people "alone" on them, friendly and wanting to see new places in company.  So now I'm taking the plunge and going away with Just You for this Christmas, to Athens.  Hoping eventually to find someone else on this board who is doing that trip.

Hello Mag,

Welcome to the club. Quite a few of us are widowed and I would recommend any of the Christmas trips. Luckily I have 2 daughters so Christmas is always a family affair. However they are busy girls and one is pregnant so do not share my holidays. That is where JY comes in. Lost count now as it is either 11 or 12 holidays and they have all been great.

Where do you want to go, choose and book, enjoy 🙂

Hello Mag. I am similar age to you and also just joined, having recently broken up with my partner and I have never been alone at Christmas before (I lost my mother in 2014). I always used to travel alone so am used to going out and about and meeting new people. But I am dreading the "normal" Christmas too so I am considering  the Bruges trip - somewhere I always wanted to go and the itinerary looks good.  Do find the courage to book something - I have been on other singles holidays before and you will soon make friends. Maybe even see you in Bruges !
