I am not going away for this New Year as I am hoping to go somewhere in January instead. I would highly recommend Iceland for the spectacular fireworks.

Yes I am going to Lake Como with JY.  Had a fantastic time when I went to Iceland at New Year with JY.  Highly recommended.  Magical swimming in the Blue Lagoon whilst the snow was falling on New Years Day.

Oh yes, Iceland is a great place to visit for New Year. Always has a nice Christmassy feel to it as well.

Agree with Julie swimming in the very warm Blue Lagoon whilst snowing was an experience, with hot chocolate to follow.
