Hello, my name is Sue and I live in Kent. I am interested in 'Walking Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way' on 6 Sept this year but feel daunted by the initial journey to Holyhead. I wondered if anyone else is making their own way there from my area and if we could maybe go together? This will be my first single holiday so I am a little nervous and unsure of what to expect. I believe there are coaches from Victoria but think it's a ten hour journey.

Hello. I live in Anglesey and this is just a little advice for getting to Holyhead from Euston in London. I have no idea how you would get to Euston from Kent but imagine it can not be too difficult. Then getting from Euston is really easy. Trains go straight to Holyhead train station, taking approx 5 hours. There are straight through trains but also some where you would have to change in Crewe or Chester. Personally, because of luggage I always make sure I get a straight through train. Hope this helps a little bit. I would not take a coach because of the time element ( but have done so to get to London!)

Yes, that's good advice. When I did this trip last year I took the train (I detest long distance coach travel). I needed an overnight hotel both before and after the holiday -  there is a Travelodge which is convenient for both the rail station and the ferry terminal, and was half the price of the hotel in the brochure with no need for taxis. It's worth all the hassle getting there - this was a very good first visit to Ireland.

Hi I am leaving Euston for Holyhead trip planned for Sept 5th 17. My question is, is the train station very far from the ferry  . Thanks Viv
