Hi all,

Hoping to book for this trip imminently, all being well - just wondered if anyone else had been on said trip taking in Prague, Vienna and Budapest or was planning on going in June (and could report back) or September.

Thanks,

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

I may be slightly biased, but I did this tour last June and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd never been to the three cities so it was a great way to enjoy a snap shot of each. If you have any questions I would be more than happy to answer them.

I can also tell you that there are 30 travellers booked on the June date and 31 booked on the September date who may report back if they are members of the community.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Thanks for that Julia,

31 travelers for September - I'd best not dawdle too long before booking up.  Do you have a break down of age range and genders?  (I apologize, and understand, if this is protected under data protection)

No real questions, I think for me it's more settling my anxiety demons down which I seem to be doing thanks to your website/brochure.  I'm looking forward to calling in on Telc before we get to Vienna - how was the hotel accommodation?  I've got some maps and a guide book for the three cities - should I feel brave enough to explore independently (not sure whether I will or not).  I think the most re-assuring aspect is having a JY rep to meet me at the outbound airport (Heathrow, London) - I'm likely freaked about nothing, but having never done it before airports worry me, being in the right place, checking in, and process and procedure.

Anyway, thanks again Julia.

Regards,

Andrew.

Hi Andrew, hoping to book this for September. I've not been with Just You before but have had positive feedback from friends met on other singles holidays.

Maybe see you in Sept the

Hi Andrew,

As we only share vague detail, I'm happy to tell you that the group is made up of 13 men and 18 women with ages from early-40s through to mid-80s.

Addressing the anxiety demons - you aren't the first to feel this way and I can guarantee that you won't be the last. (I still get butterflies when I head off on a JY holiday). These feelings soon dissipate when you meet your fellow travellers.

The hotels have changed since I took this tour so I can't make a comment from personal experience, but we always aim to stay in nice hotels. It really easy to explore the three cities independently in your free time - I'm sure if you wanted it, some of your fellow travellers would join you on your adventures as many want to see similar sights. Telc is very pretty - some of our group paid a small fee to have a wonder around part of the Château grounds which was absolutely charming.

If you choose to book, I can also tell you that the provisional tour manager for this date is a gentleman called Philip Jones and he is due to fly out with the group from Heathrow, so he'd also be keeping an eye out for you at the airport. One comment I would say (and I say this to many of our travellers) is that if you go on to book, make sure that at the airport you have your Just You luggage labels on your case and hand luggage - these make it easy for our Airport Rep, tour manager and your fellow travellers spot you.

If there is anything I can help with, please let me know.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi again Julia,

Just been reading the reviews of the tour from previous travelers - a few hiccups, but it seems things have changed since then.  I'm beating my anxiety demons, this I can feel, and I'll likely book up at some point next week - just hedging my bets so to speak that the anxiety demons will diminish before I do take the first part of the plunge into singles holidays.

Thanks Julia, and hi to David - all being well I shall be on the September tour.

Regards,

Andrew.

Hi again Julia,

Hurrah, booked for September - paid for, coach to Heathrow sorted, overnight hotel booked at Heathrow, insurance sorted and now all I have to do is await my final confirmation and booking documents within 14 days of departure and purchase my foreign currency - nearer the time obviously.

It seems that only Austria has adopted the Euro; Czech Republic are trying to apply but don't appear to be succeeding this side of the September trip.  Any advice on how much foreign currency to purchase prior to departure?  I looked at the exchange rates and it seems if I buy £100 - £150 worth of the respective currencies I'll have a lot of foreign currency to carry with me.  The damage to the pound could make Austria more expensive, but it looks like Prague and Budapest may be as favourable.

Thanks Julia.

Hi Andrew

Well done for taking the first step and booking the holiday. I am sure you are going to have a fantastic time. As to the currency, sometimes you get a better rate in the country you are visiting so I would suggest taking a small amount for each City and then changing money as and when you need it. Of course, if you do not feel comfortable doing this then you can budget for each day (any meals, refreshments, souvenirs, tips etc) and take the full amount of local currency you think you will need. I always take some extra Sterling and a credit card with me besides local currency just in case. Have a fantastic holiday.

Best wishes

Jaya

I'm just back from the Budapest to Strasbourg  river cruise. We only spent a morning in Budapest, but from what I saw  it's  a really beautiful city. I took a few pounds worth of florints, but euros were widely accepted in shops and cafés.  The places we found where only florints were acceptable were entrance fees to churches and the fishermen's bastion.  Have a great trip.

Have a great time Andrew.  :)

I'm going on the Imperial Cities of the Danube River Cruise in November, so thanks for the pointer on the florints in Budapest Sarah.  Like you we shall only have a small amount of time in Budapest, and it's useful to know that euro's are widely accepted.  🙂

Happy to help. I was able to get    twenty pounds worth of  florints from my local  Tesco  money shop. Plenty for coffee,  souvenirs and entry  fees.   I  hope you enjoy your  cruise as much as I did  mine.

I just posted a review of my cruise.  Are you on a CroisEurope ship?

Thanks one and all for your feedback, sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I was thinking mainly about what sort of amount of currencies it's wise to have in loose change given that I carry very little cash in the UK - reliant as I am on debit/credit card. It does seem like, for example, £100 worth of Czech Koruna could be rather a lot of Czech Koruna or Forints. Hmm. Think I'll go with the original plan.

As for the trip, looking forward to it - nerves have gone, and anxiety gremlins are under control. I take a bow as I feel pretty damn pleased with myself that they don't seem as though they will bother me before or during the trip. I'm actually looking at a second trip, but only if I can't launch a project I've been working on.

Thanks one and all.

Yes Sarah.  It is the MS Vivaldi.  17th November departure.  I shall look forward to reading your review when it has been moderated.

Have a great time. You're set to visit three amazing cities. I spent some time in Prague a few years ago, then opted to see Budapest  and Vienna on a river cruise.  Vienna was magical. The ringstrasse, imperial  palaces,  incredible architecture,  and of course the famed sachertorte sorry if that's  the wrong spelling, but I couldn't  possibley call something so delicious just cake! Try and make time to try it. Budapest  was equally  impressive.  So much to see, and stunning views across  the river from Buda on the hill. Prague is different again, don't miss the castle  St Vitus Cathedral and the astrological clock. Please write a review when you get back. Over a week later, I'm still talking about my trip.

Thanks.  We don't go to Prague on this cruise.  Vienna, Budapest and Bratislava.  Only a short taster of each of course but I am particularly looking forward to seeing Budapest.

Is anyone going on this trip on the 5 October? It would be my first solo trip, so I'm feeling a bit nervous
