I would like to hear from anyone who is going on this trip. Especially if you are travelling from Manchester. I received a telephone call today informing me that there is a flight change from Amsterdam to Manchester which may result in an overnight stay in Amsterdam on the return journey. Has anyone else been informed of this.

Hi. I'm on the same trip, but I'm flying from Cardiff. I haven't had any notifications of changes to the flights so I assume there is no problem with Cardiff.

Hi Lynne. You will probably be OK. I just hope I'll manage to make the connection as I don't really want to overnight in Amsterdam as I have another flight back to the Isle of Man so it means I would miss that connection also. All that said though I am looking forward to the trip. Have you used JY before.

Hi Madwife,

I'm on this trip from Manchester and received the phone call about the flight change, I think there was about 50 mins between the flights originally and now will be a few hours, I wasn't told about an overnight stay.

A few hours later makes sense as on a couple of occasions were I have had a period of 1 and half hours between flights, the flight before has been late and then by the time you've cleared immigration etc. you've missed the connecting flight.

It happened to the National Parks trip I was on in Sept 2013 flying into Atlanta where about 2 thirds of the group ended up staying the night in Atlanta after being assured by the airline that there was plenty of time.

Then last year (with another travel company) returned to Heathrow from Boston and missed the connecting flight by 5 mins after being assured again by the airline staff that there was plenty of time. In this case I ended having to make my own arrangements to get back home using the train from Heathrow for which the holiday company later reimbursed me.

Looking forward to the trip.

Regards,

SteveW

Hi Steve. Well I was told that they will do their best to get me on the earlier flight. I hope to check my baggage straight through to Amsterdam or just take a small case on board so won't have to wait for baggage. Also, I shouldn't have to clear customs as I will go straight through to transfers. If by any chance the later flight is fully booked I was told that they would 'bump' someone off the flight to make way for me!! or KLM will pay for an overnight in Amsterdam if that isn't possible. Anyway keep in touch and perhaps we could meet in Manchester on the way out. I will have an overnight probably in Manchester Airport as I will be flying in from the Isle of Man the day before. Where are you based. Anne

Hi,

I'm based in Huddersfield about 30 miles. I usually catch the train as there is a direct one to the airport from Hudds that runs through the night, so expect to arrive at airport about 2 -3 hrs before the flight depending on the train times.

I was told that the flight would be later so wouldn't be expected back in Manchester until about 21:30 but still waiting for the paperwork to confirm this.

Regards,

Steve
