When you went on the Canada New England tour, how many Canadian $ did you take! I no I might not get your tour rep but did yours throw in any extra excursions you had to pay for?. Just trying to formulate a few more things off my to do list. Anything else I should be looking to do while over there, I shall defiantly be going for the carriage ride in Central Park, where are you off to next got any more holidays booked? I have booked the battlefield tour for 2015.

Dont know if this will appear but I feel I should say be careful of your wish in NY. I use the Forums of a well known travel website and you may wish to do the same to check on the care of the animals.

I was in NY a couple of years ago and did a wonderful two hour walking tour of the park with one of the walks companies. Cant remember which now but could let you know if we exchange email. You would see a lot more and also hear the interesting history too. Enjoy your trip

Hi Cindy

I did this trip last September. From memory, I took about $400(Canadian) also used my card to pay for some things. Meals etc cost about same as in USA. The CNN Tower and the Niagra Falls trip with dinner were the additional tours I had to pay for. Had pre-booked the Laurentian Mountains trip and Cap Cod.

There is a walking tour of part of Central Park which is included. Other tours I did in NY were NY by night with a visit to Empire State Building and the river cruise. There was not much free time to do anything else!!

Hope this helps and that you enjoy the trip.

Hi Cinday,

I allocated 100$ per day and that was enough to cover all the meals and goodies that I wanted to buy - I allowed the same for the USA part of it too. No, Gary didn't add any more excursions on to the trip, so I knew what I would need for those trips before I left UK. The usual tips applied to all the tour guides etc. Price of foods is very similar to that here in the UK - in Toronto, we went to the Hard Rock Café and that was pretty reasonable. Not sure what the alcohol cost as I'm not really a drinker - I stuck to soft drinks most of the time.. The carriage ride was good and whilst I appreciate what the other lady says about the welfare of the animals, they looked to be in pretty good condition - also the time factor didn't really allow for the walk round the park as we didn't have the add on. The driver of the carriage was pretty informative.

Enjoy and ask away if there's anything else you need to know

Annie Lesley and Rose

thank you for your replys, as an avid animal lover rest assured the animals welfare is paramount to me.

I went on this tour in 2006 minus the Canadian part, and as I am doing the add on I want to see and do as much as I possible can, as I am not sure I will visit this side of the USA again. I am used to the fast paced tours, so just trying to maximise the FREE!!! Time if any I have..I am linked into a Central Park website so I do know they offer walking and cycle tours, my feet are not the best these days and my cycling days are well and truly over, I will keep an eye on what's on offer.

So thanks again everyone

Cindy
