I am considering the Chicago to New Orleans tour departing from Manchester on October 20th; does anyone have any idea what the weather will be like. I have been to the Old South a couple of years ago but that was in June and the weather was very hot. I expect Chicago will be colder but not sure about the South. | am interested in this particular date because it departs from Manchester.

I am also booked on the Lake Como tour on 16th June. I think the weather will be good there then.

My first trip with JY was last Septmeber to Costa de la Luz, I was very apprehensive about going and almost cancelled at the last minute but I had an absolutely fabulous time. It is a great place and will probably go back again next year. Val

Hi Val,

Even though I doubt it'll be shorts weather October isn't usually that cold. Could get into the 60's during the but day will get chilly on a night (not down to freezing though). Not much different to the UK in October.

It does get very cold (excessive) in winter but doesn't usually drop until mid november.

Myself and a few others on the forum are on this holiday but from Heathrow in November (3rd) looks a good holiday. I'm from the north but have got a hotel/park deal the night before at heathrow. I know at least one person who is connecting on our trip flying from Manchester to heathrow in the morning (arranged by JY).

Hi Val,

I think we were on the same trip to Costa de la Luz in September, what a wonderful time we had. I hope you are well. I am going to Chicago & New Orleans October 20th,Gaynor Has also booked for this. I chose October as it is going from Manchester, Sorry I am as wise as you as to the weather situation, I think Chicago may be a little chilly, but I think it gets wamer as we go further south, we will know more I think nearer the time. I hope you book this trip, it looks as if it will be great. I have also booked for Tuscany May 15th, so looking forward to this also.

Hi Rosina,

Yes it is me from last September. I am now more inclined to book knowing there will be one or two faces I know. Will just have to pack a jacket and umbrella!! I have been to Memphis and New Orleans as I said but would like to go back again and the other places along the way appeal to me also especially Chicago. Will let you know if I book.

Val.

Hi Mick

Thanks for your reply. The last time I went to New Orleans tit was June and very hot. After reading Rosie9's reply who I met last year at Costa de la Luz (I have now got the JY travel bug), I am more and more inclined to book this trip and as I have replied to Rosina pack a jacket and umbrella! Hope you have a fab time in November. Val

Hello all,

Lake Garda near Lake Como, in June was very warm and fantastic thunderstorms. Took only a plastic mac for emergencies and an umbrella.

New Orleans was in September / October and again warm and Hurricane Ike ! My daughter was in New Orleans for New Years Eve and there are pictures of her in a t -shirt-unfortunetely she also hit the coldest weather of -16 when she got to Nashville which was unusual for them. I am on the November 3rd trip with Mick, so shall take one of everything clothing wise just in case- can always buy out there :P
