[attachment=344]Hi Fellow Travellers

I'm excited about Christmas at Lake Como. I know it will all go too quickly but I hope to make friends with all of my fellow travellers. Not sure what to expect and if they stuff their Turkey (or will it will be pizza) but I'm up for a bit of cultural shock.

Whatever the main Christmas meal is, should I wear a jacket and tie? What do you think? I'm happy with smart casual and casual for the rest of the time but would appreciate some guidance from all quarters at that special dinner.

Thanks,

Bern

Hi,

There is a review in the review section about this holiday. If memory serves me right, it was very well rated and and you might get some answers to your questions.

Thanks

Hi Bern,

I was at Lake Como for Christmas last year and had a great time.

The hotel is fantastic, an Italian family villa bought by an Englishman and his Italian wife. They have spent a fortune refurbishing it and made it into a wonderful hotel.

The Christmas Day dinner was ~~ wait for it ~~ 8 courses (not full plates, just kind of tasters), silver service, began at 12.00 noon and we left table about 4.00pm.

I think smart/casual should be sufficient for Christmas Day, maybe a lounge suit and tie, or blazer and smart trousers.

I paid a supplement for bedroom with balcony and Lake view and it was well worth the extra.

If you are lucky enough to have Richard Lord as your Tour Manager, please do give him my kindest regards. He is the best of the best and you'll have a great time.

Good luck and enjoy yourself. Any other help I can give you, please get it touch.

Regards.

Denise

Hi Denise and Mark

Thank you for your reply, your encouraging comments and advice as to the dress code for Christmas day dinner (sounds as if I need to wear an elasticated waist!).

I'm very much looking forward to the time there. I don't expect snow but I guess I will need to wear some warm clothes for out and about.

See you there!

Kind regards

Bern

Hi Bern,

There will most certainly be snow when you take the train to St Moritz, unless there is something radically wrong with the weather!!

I wore ankle boots, all weather jacket (with jumper underneath),warm scarf and gloves. You can always divest of a layer if it turns too warm.

Do have fun. I'd be very interested to hear how you enjoyed yourself when you return.

Regards,

Denise.

Oh, Denise, I thought you were going there again this year! I'm sorry to hear that as you are the only member I've chatted with!

Enjoy yourself whatever you decide to do over Christmas!

Sorry Bern, I decided the flights were not really ideal for me, so opted for Christmas in Andalucía instead. Apart from anything else, this flies from Manchester, so I don't need to worry about getting back late and having to overnight at Heathrow!

You'll have a ball.

Give my love to Lake Como and I might be back some day.

Regards.

Denise

Hello Bern, I will be there and I'm really looking forward to it. It's my third JY trip but the first Christmas one. The last I heard was that we have 15 people in the group. I'm flying from Heathrow, how about you ?

See you on 23rd

Sue

Hi Sue. I'm looking forward to it too! I expect it will all be over in a flash, but hopefully, it will leave good memories with new friends. The last I heard, when I booked about three weeks ago, there were 18 in the group.

I am flying from Heathrow and driving up from Bournemouth, where I live.

See you soon!

Hi Denise

Perhaps this is to late to get an an answer from you before the Xmas holiday, but did you mean wearing a Jacket/tie on Xmas Day? I just checked the itinerary and it says there is a "festive Xmas Eve Dinner" on the 24th, while on the 25th it mentions ' a special Xmas lunch' and later an evening meal, so I'm confused. Which is the one to 'dress up' for? Would appreciate your insight.

Regards

Bern
