Hi I have booked a 21 day tour to New Zealand in November. I am a single traveller on her first long haul holiday. I would love to hear from anyone else who also booked. :)

Hello Janice,

I am booked on this, my 10th JY holiday. I have been on several long-haul flights (Australia, Canada and China) and they have all been great. I am confident that NZ will be equally good. See you!

David.

Hi Cindy

Thanks for getting touch. I need to start thinking about what clothes to take. I am thinking along the lines of walking shoes and trousers, layered tops, t shirts etc, a bit more dressy in the evening. How much walking is involved; is it 'proper' walking or a lot of strolling around? Do you think it better to book any additional tours when I get there or book before? Was there anything that I must not miss? Sorry for so many questions but any help you can give will save me taking clothes that never get taken out of my suitcase!!

Hi David

Good hear from a fellow traveller. Where are you based? I live in Hertfordshire. It would be nice if a few other people got in touch so we could correspond before the big adventure.

you are spot on with the clothes, just stuff you can layer on or take off!!!..I am not a great walker as in striding out and I managed just fine, more strolling than pounding the beat. Just take enough clothes for 10 days there are washing machines along the way, just make sure yours is in a bag to rush to the machines first as other people will have the same idea. Evening wear was really just smart casual for the evenings, some days are really full on so it's a bite to eat and go to bed. I booked the tours when I was out there, most of the flights you have to pay direct to the people who are running them. I do remember we did have an extra wine tasting tour which was VERY enjoyable! And worth doing, and also an Antarctic adventure www.iceberg.co.nz these were what our tour manager put in place.Do go and visit Sky-tower in Auckland this I did this away from the group www.skytower.co.nz well worth doing and just a stroll from the hotel we were in. If your going via Hong Kong the trip to Lantau Island is very good.

I am sure I did most of what was on offer. I was hoping to do many more helicopter light plane flights but due to the weather, they were not flying I only managed the helicopter to the Franz Joseph..you do get off up the top and when I went lots of snow so you will need jacket and sturdy shoes for that.

We had perfect weather for the visit to Milford Sound, I found this breath taking....

You will have a great time...

f you have any more questions just ask.

Hello Janice, I may well be joining your party after first visiting Australia, I think there are six of us coming over to join the New Zealand trip. The place looks amazing and I am really looking forward to the complete contrast there will be after Australia. This is a holiday of a lifetime for me as I have had a passion to visit this part of the world since I was 10yrs old, and have read so much about it. Cant wait!
