Just wondered what the trips were like and is it worth booking Mount Etna and Agrigento as optional extras, are they worth a visit as I am not sure if this will make the week too busy with no relaxation time.
What is your opinion, it would be interesting to find out?

Hi Cath
I went to Sicily in October 2011 and Agrigento was one of the included excursions - I see the itinerary has changed since then. I did all the included excursions and optional ones as I like to see as much as I can of the country I visit.
Agrigento: If you are into history and like to see temples, statues and renovations then I would recommend it. Have a look at Google images for the area if you are unsure.
Mt Etna: I'm a volcano person so I would say its a must! When I did it, the cost JY quoted is only for the transfer from the hotel to the bottom of Etna. It costs extra to go to the top, but at least you see the active crater bubbling away. I'm not sure what the temperature will be like in September but for my trip, it was hot and sunny on the ground and by the time we got up to Etna it was snowing and there was a biting wind, so you'll need shoes, socks, coat, gloves etc. You can hire a coat, footwear and socks which I did but you cannot beat your own - I was freezing!!!
I hope this helps.
