Hi Jan,

8 weeks today and we shall be on our way!

Living in Sussex I shall be getting a taxi to Heathrow. Not too sure how many will be on our holiday. I have booked all the extra tours (never ridden on a horse before).

Many years ago I went to Dallas / Fort Worth but that was on business, so it will be great to see the Sixth Floor again, especially as it is 50 years ago that JFK was assassinated.

All the best

Hi Jan,

I've booked into the Marriott. It was on a special offer too good to resist. I've stayed at the Comfort Inn before and it was very nice.

Malcolm when I last checked there was about 15 people but don't know if it's gone up since then.

I'm seriously considering getting my money this weekend as the exchange rate keeps getting worse and worse. Normally I wait until the week before.

Hi Malcolm

I have booked all the tours but i might give the horse riding a miss and stay by the pool. There are 21 of us going on the tour. I have been to New Orleans on a previous tour so it will be good to see again. Just for information the swamp tour was excellent.

Hi to everyone going on this tour.

If you have booked the Silver Spur ranch excursion you may have looked at their website and seen some of the activities. I have never been on a horse riding before, so I was a little surprised to see people not wearing helmets! I sent them an email and they have replied saying ‘It is not required by law in Texas to wear helmets. We do have about 5 helmets that are available for use if you would like to wear one.’ I assume the horses are getting on and enjoying a lazy life!!! So we should be ok.

I understand the 17th May tour is now up to 23.

Regards to everyone.

Hi everyone who is on this tour next month and to those of you going in September.

To whet your appetite, if you go to the Independent newspaper website and click on ‘travel’ and then onto ’48 hours in’, place the curser over the USA and click on Houston and then ‘read full article’ there is a video by Simon Calder which lasts for about 24 mins. He gives you an insight to the city and places to eat and visit. There is also one for New Orleans (which features the paddle steamer Natchez).

If you have SKY TV, this Tuesday 16th April on PBS America, channel 166 at 9pm, is a programme about The Alamo.

All the very best.

Hi All for Texas.

As I was saying. 3rd Just you Holiday If this is as good as the others it will be great.

I live 12 miles south of Heathrow so my Son can drop me off on his way to work. Perfect. Just 2 places left when I last looked.

I wonder how many that makes in total if there's only 2 places left. Only 4 weeks today! I'm booked into a hotel at Heathrow overnight so I can be sure of arriving on time 🙂

Hello to everyone on this tour. I know we will have a great time together.

Well the good news is that the weather is going to be great. On Friday it looks like we could be leaving a wet Heathrow!!!

Having looked at the US Weather Channel, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston and New Orleans will have temperatures for the next 10 days in the mid 80f’s and plenty of sunshine!

See you in the Servisair lounge.

Regards

Hi Malcolm, thanks for the weather update. I don't think I'll be taking any jumpers on the trip!
