Hi Jack yes I'm feeling excited about it; I've got an appointment tomorrow to check out if I need any inocculations etc. This is my first JFY holiday but from what I'm reading on the threads it sounds like everyone is friendly and that it should be hectic but enjoyable. It's good to hear from you.

Hi Marie, sorry for the late reply, I've been so busy with work!

I'm been given a form by my GP to fill in re: inoculations so should be all covered by the time of the trip.

This is also my first JFY holiday - i liked the way the trip is organised and the facts that there is lots fitted in. Plus it's hard waiting for friends to save up / find time off to travel together - so it's ideal going as a group of like minded travellers!

So do you live quite near to Gatwick - I'm getting a flight down from Newcastle.

Not long to go now!

Jack

Hi Jack, I live up North too but BA have stopped direct flights from Manchester to Gatwick from 31st March so I'm travelling down by National Express the day before and staying in a hotel at Gatwick overnight. My partner offered to drive me down but it was a long way for him to drive there and back in a day so the coach seemed the best option. I've had all my inocculations now, I only went to find out what I needed and they did them all there and then so that's good and out of the way. I got my paperwork and was excited to see that one of the internal flights has been changed to a high speed train so that will be an interesting experience in itself I think!

Hi Marie

I am going on this tour in October, and have read various things,

many contradictory on inoculations, some have said you need them

others say they are not required, where this tour visits.

If you don't mind me asking what jabs did you end up having.

Ps I noticed the high speed train added, now on a busman's holiday,

I drive our slow speed trains:)

Thanks

At our Practice you have to see a nurse to discuss holiday innoculations and at my appointment she asked me where I was travelling to (I listed all the places in the itinerary and also the Yangtze cruise) and she logged on to an NHS website that told her which injections were recommended for each area. It recommended Hepatitis A, Typhoid and Diptheria/Polio/Tetanus. Hope that helps, Marie

The high speed train should be a great way to see the country and be some experience too!

I wonder if they'll be a good number coming on the trip - haven't heard of many more people besides you and I heading to China in August!

I've just paid my balance and checked on the ask the editor forum that it was definitely running and Julia said there was a green tick by it and that there are six of us booked on for the trip and the Yangtze river cruise. That seems quite a small number but I'm just relieved it's running. I assume you are doing the Yangtze cruise too then?

Hi Marie,

I've opted to travel down the day before and stay at one of the Gatwick hotels prior to the China flight...there are quite a lot of options - was wondering if you would mind telling me where you had booked to stay, might be a good idea to meet up, travel to departures in a JY group to beat the stress!

Oh Marie are you on the 9th October one? That's the one I am on and we have something in common, if you drive trains I signal them.

Hi I'm on the 7th August trip so I'll be going a bit before you; it's coming round really quickly now; it's not me but someone else on the thread who's the train driver but I am looking forward to the ride on the high speed train !!

I've booked to stay over in The Premier Inn (North Terminal, Gatwick) the night before the 7th August when we depart to China.

Anyone else staying nearby and fancy meeting up for food / travelling to the airport check in in the morning?

Also I assume we check in individually, where / when / how do we meet up with our fellow Just You travellers for Inspirational China?

Jack 🙂

Hi Jack,

I did this trip in may and you will have have an amazing time. You do check in individually but you may well find that someone else has boodked the same overnight stay as well. If not, you have the use of an executive lounge (we did and I am assuming it will be the same for you!!) where you get to meet fellow travellers which is a brilliant way of bonding before the holiday. I found the earlier you get to the lounge the onger you have tog et to know people!!

If you have anymore queries please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Jack, I'm travelling down on the National Express the day before we fly and am booked in the Premier Inn also; they've just altered the time of the coach back so I'm not due to get there til around 8.15 pm at night but I'd be up for meeting for breakfast the next morning before we go to the airport or if not just meeting up to go over to the airport from the Premier Inn. I've just had my final pack through the mail today and I can see that we can use the executive lounge from 10 am onwards also. Let me know what you think. Hope you are getting on ok with the fractured arm! Marie

Sorry Jack, I haven't seen this thread for a while and have only just realised that you posted an earlier one, it looks like coincidently we are both booked in at the Premier Inn; how are you travelling down there? Are you also booked on the Yangtze Cruise add on? It would be good to travel over to the airport together and work out where to go. Keep in touch and if you want my email address I'm happy for it to be passed on by Julia if she has it. I've also replied to your other thread. Thanks, Marie
