Hi Gordon. Yes - I would love to meet up. Its so much better than travelling on your own. I'm about an hour's drive away from Heathrow (I live in Essex), Perhaps we could arrange a time and place? Olive

If you are a Sky TV subscriber on channel 166 PBS they have had a programme (12 episodes) on the history of the National Parks. They are 75 minutes long but Sky plus it has the advert breaks are 5 mins!!

There is also one about Mount Rushmore. Both programmes have been repeated, so it could be again. The TV schedules are shown in the Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine.

Enjoy the holiday as the sights and views are brilliant.

Malcolm

Hi Malcolm,

Thanks ffor the info. I'm not a Sky subscriber but will look in the weekend mag. I do have freeview - maybe it will appear on there some time.

Kind regards Olive

Alison,

Which date are you going ? (Bob is going 9th sept from London and I am on 23rd from Manchester)

These touring holidays are great, you see so much but are very hectic.

Mick

I am booked for the 9th September. You all seem very experienced at this. Do you know anything about the optional excursions?

Best wishes

Alison

Hello Alison

I'm going on the 20th May so have already had info about optional excursions, although I haven't booked any yet. They are Grand Canyon Helicopter Flight £110;Great Salt Lake city £23; Lake Powell cruise £35; Monument Valley 4 wheel drive £33; Monument Valley flight £275. Think I will book the cheaper ones before I go and wait til I get there to decide about the Grand Canyon flight. Probably won't book monument valley flight (a lot of money!). Really looking forward to the trip now - doesn't seem too long to go. Best wishes Olive

Hi Alison, looking forward to meeting you at Heathrow on 9 Sept! The excursions sound brilliant, I'll probably do them all as they are once in a lifetime opportunities! I imagine we'll be able to pay for the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley flights by credit card when we are there, if we can't pay for them in advance. It all sounds wonderful, I can't wait!

Cheers,

Bob

Hi Bob

That's good to know. I think I will do the same, it seems a long way to go not to take advantage of all on offer. Have a grea summer planning!

Well your tour is over but I am surprised no reviews!!

This tour probably has the best scenery America has to offer. What was the weather like in Yellowstone? Did it snow like it did when I went on this tour in May 2012?

I am sure future travellers would be interested.

Hello Malcolm

There will definitely be a review. But we only arrived back yesterday afternoon and I am very jet-lagged, having lost 8 hours somewhere along the line! I had the most amazing holiday, with as you say, the best scenery ever. It didn't snow in Yellowstone, but there was snow on the hills and the side of the roads. In fact, the weather in Yellowstone couldn't have been better - 2 lovely sunny days. The only time it rained was in Salt Lake City when it didn't matter quite so much. Please look out or my review - I am hoping to do it in the next couple of days. Kind regards Olive

Steve: see the thread I started specifically for this trip (National Parks, Mount Rushmore and Little Big Horn, Sept. 23 2013). If you are staying near the airport on the evening of the 22nd a couple of us are meeting up for a drink.
