Hello All,

I'm ready to book my very first trip to the Canadian Rockies & Vancouver for September. I understand JY is a sister company of TravelSphere. Both companies do a similar trip but the price for TravelSphere is £1,000 less than JY even after the single supplement is added!

Any idea why? Also would you recommend TravelSphere for single women?

Regards,

Millicent

Hi Millicent,

Regarding Travelsphere, I dont think they offer as many included excursions as JY and not as many meals, although I haven't checked the tour you are talking about.

I did go with Travelsphere in September 2012 to USA purely because JY cancelled the original holiday, and I couldnt do the other dates I was offered. I am a single traveller. The tour was fantastic, but I was the only single traveller. There were two girls who were friends, but all the others were couples. I dont mind my own company, and I had a brilliant holiday, I did team up with the two two girls on occasions, but I did want to do myown thing. Some of the couples were friendly, but some were not. If you like company all the time, then you would not have liked that holiday. However, I understand that it does not happen very often where there is only one single traveller, but you would ave to take the view that you could be. I hope this helps. Sheila x

Hi Millicent

I don't know anything about the tour your mentioned, but would echo what's been said about Travelsphere being mostly couples. Althought Just You is a singles company you will get a number of people who travel together and know each other, on most holidays (this has been discussed a lot on this board, if you look back over previous threads).

If you ring Travelsphere they will tell you how many people have paid the single supplement for any particular holiday, which may help you. Of course, this doesn't 100% tell you how many people are on their own, as for example two friends could be travelling together, but not wish to share a room.

Good luck

Millicent,

I asked similar question about the Australia holiday some time ago, I was contacted by JY by phone and apparently in that case they use slightly better hotels and as Sheila says more meals & excurrsions. Since then the Australia hol did drop slightly in price.

Reading your post I was interested so had a look at the hol you mention and can only see a £500 difference (suppose only isn't really the word). The 4 hotels named on both hols are the same and the only differences I can see are two extra excurrsions (Vancouver city tour & Victoria), also 9 breakfasts and one dinner. Doesn't seem a lot for £500 in my opinion, perhaps I've missed something.

Would be interesting to see JY's breakdown of costs for the excurrsions and extra meals.

On another note I personally wouldn't like to go on a couples holiday as a single.

It you compare companies to the tour that you want to do, you may find that JY offer more "sight seeing" & lunches/dinners. I know that JY tend to do a welcome/farewell dinners that Travelsphere don't do.

I have mainly used JY, but have used Travelsphere once. Most of the travellers have been couples (married/2 lots of mother/daughters/2 friends/married couple who also had their son with them/and 4 "single people"). I found most of the "couples" mixed and were friendly. I wouldn't have a problem recommending "Travelsphere" for single people. Think you need to weigh up both "tours" and see what's best for you (dates/price/excursions etc) Both companies are excellent. You may want to look at "Page & Moy" as they are part of the same group of of companies (I personally haven't used them)

I just had a look and my calculations are nowhere near £1000.

10th Sep on JY is £2799

5th Sep on TS with single supplement is £2389

So the difference is £410

24th Sep on JY is £2699

26th Sep on TS is £2189

So the difference there is £510

All the above are with direct flights, JY from Heathrow and TS from Gatwick.

JY has two additional included excursions, and has breakfasts and 1 dinner. TS is room only.
