The boyfriend of a couple that I know, has asked me to buy his ladyfriend a scar if possible, when I visit Peru in May/June.

To give me a rough idea of:

1. The availability of such an item

2. The levels of quality.

3. The price range.

Can anyone advise me on this matter, it would be a very light & easily item to pack?

Regards,

Richard.

Hi Richard

I am sure you will find something suitable whilst you are there. I have not been to Peru yet, but can't imagine that you will not be able to buy a lovely scarf made locally.

Thanks for clearing that up Jaya, I was wondering why he wanted a scar for his girlfriend and if they were freely available in Peru!!

Cheers,

Bob

Thanks for not pointing out that I'd wrongly typed scar instead of scarf as someone else has done.

It is a scarf & not a scar, I was trying to avoid typing the plural, scarves: this type of spelling mistake (unedited typing error) could easily cause consternation!

I knew you meant Scarf. We all make mistakes whilst typing so no big deal.

Have a wonderful trip to Peru.

Hi Richard, sorry I was just making a little joke to try and brighten up everyone's day a little in these dark days of January when so many people are laid up with colds, bugs and so on! Hope you have a fantastic holiday,

All the best,

Bob

Hello Jaya.

It was somewhat a dramatic typing slip! Having nipped into my most local library, I picked a couple of books on Peru from the travel section, whre I read about alpaca scarves & shawls in new designs that can be bought in Lima: I'd like to have an idea of their price range though.

Regards,

Richard.

Hi Richard. I am really interested in this holiday but when I telephone them last week they only had a few booked so at this point I'm not sure if it's going ahead. I too was going to leave via Manchester. If it does go ahead please keep in touch as we could meet up at the airport. anne

Hi Richard

I do not know the price of locally made Alpaca scarves and shawls, but being Peru I am assuming that they will not be very expensive. You will be able to pick up something really nice and unique. Perhaps you can try and google to see if you can find out how much roughly they will cost. I bet not a lot compared to what we pay over here.

Thanks for your reply. I wouldn't be supprised if both long term vendettas & wars in ancient times had started because of such mis-communications.

Hello Madwife. Went I booked this holiday I was only the 2nd person to do so. If there are insufficient numbers JY may merge this tour with one on another date. JY did this with my Japan tour last year.

I intend to keep in touch, because it is nice to meet fellow travellors @ the outset of a tour - 4 pairs of eyes & ears or more can make matters a lot easier.

Richard.

Good evening Jaya.

My May tour to Peru has been cancelled due to a lack of bookings, so I've booked the Inspirational China instead, travelling a week later.

Thankfully, I've been able to book a tour to Peru in late August/ early September with Travelsphere. There were three other sole travellers already booked on this tour, so that hopefully, there'll now be at least four sole travellers.

Regards,

Richard.

Hi Richard

What a disappointment it must have been to have the Peru trip cancelled. I know the feeling - I had to cancel both my 2013 holidays - Nile Cruise with Sharm el Sheikh add on and Kerala Vista as unfortunately I need some more chemotherapy treatment as my Non Hodgkins Lymphoma has come back - very annoying indeed. Inspirational China is on my list of trips to do in the future so do post a review when you come back. Are you doing the add on? I am pleased you are going to be able to do the Peru trip later in the year with Travelsphere. Do post a review as I really want to go to Peru one day. Do Travelshpere offer the Amazon add-on and, if so, are you doing it?

Have a wonderful time in China.

Regards

Jaya

Hi - am just back from Peru and you can find the most beautiful scarves/shawls, particularly if you are going to Cusco/Machu Picchu. Pretty darn cheap, and easy to negotiate about 20% discount if you have the cash in your hand. I would have bought a suitcase full back - had I not had to carry other clothes. Shawls more than scarves but beautiful. A
