Hello Dave and welcome....

I have not been on that tour but I have my 9th tour booked, I have done near and far holidays. Just a couple bits of information for you:-

Have a look around at the other postings on here there is much information to be gained.

Ladies normally out numbere the men.

It's a very safe way to travel

Main age group I would say is 55-70 with younger and older as well

Every one mixes in very well

I love the different age ranges, I am 54 and have been travel for 6 years with JY.

Sometimes people meet someone who they get on with and then they travel again on tours, so sometimes there are people travelling together, I do this sometimes but always make sure I mix in with the main group as well, it would be rude not to.

The holidays are great fun and there is so much to see and do along the way.

I wish you well, and if there is anything I can help with just ask.

Hi,

I have been on a few singles holidays, and they are fantastic. I have loved all of them. As Cindy says, it's a safe way to travel, and there is always someone there if you need them, You can be wih the group if hou want to, or not if you don't. I have never been with a bad group. They have been of varying ages, from 20 something to 80 something, and everyone gets on with each other. I did the Kusadasi trip approx 2 years ago, but it was a different hotel, it was a fantastic holiday. It is not far to visit Ephasus, which is a great excursion. I remember everything being really cheap as well. They have fantastic "genuine fake watches"! Book it, you will have a great time. Sheila x:thumbup:

Thanks Sheila,

Now everyone's making me feel very welcome!

The holiday I'm looking at is Istanbul, Troy and Ephesus. I've looked at other operators. It looks like all I now need is to choose a departure date!.

Hi Dave

I'm new to this site to by only a few days ( I feel like the new girl) but those who have replied have been very encouraging. I went to turkey last year and had a fabulous time. Vey friendly and accommadaing people and the country is beautiful. I'm a keen hore rider and the treks outside kushdur were lovely. Ephusus was super and pamukela was just as lovely. I'm sure you'll have a great time

Best wished

Hello Dave

Welcome to the forum.

I went on the all inclusive holiday to Kusadasi this year. Enjoyed the sight seeing and the group were very friendly. The hotel was ok but I believe that JY are using a different hotel next year which is probably a good thing. Ephesus is amazing and I look forward to your report next year on the Istanbul, Troy and Ephesu tour.

Do not worry about being on your own as mostly everyone is in the same boat as you or travel with Just You for various reasons. I have found that the people on these tours are very friendly and we all soon get to know each other. I have been on the Nile and Pyramids tour (highly recommended), Northern Cyprus and as already mentioned, Turkey

Enjoy your trip.

Mel

PS watch out for the sea urchins if swimming in the sea. 6 injections in foot and 15 spines removed owch!

Hi Dave

Welcome to Just you community. You will have a great time travelling with Just You. I have been on 4 holidays and have 2 booked for next year.

Mel,

I have booked the Nile Cruise for April 2013. Do you have any tips? Also, did you go to Abu Simbel? Maybe you did not get that option. I am already excited and looking forward to the trip. Have never been on a cruising holiday before as I am not a good 'sea traveller' or perhaps the sea does not like me, but I thought cruising on a river will be okay.

Regards

I had a fantastic time in Egypt. You will love it. I didnt go to Abu Simbel. I recommend that you do though if you have enough pennies.

Tips. Take lots of hand sanitiser and use this regularly

Do not drink the water and do not have ice in your drinks. Use bottled water even for brushing your teeth.

I went in February 2007 and the weather was just right. With you going later it will certainly be warmer.

re: river cruise. You will be fine. There are not any rapids and they go at a very sedate pace. You shouldn't get sick.Rooms are great. The cleaners have a great sense of humour. I will leave it at that as do not want to spoil the surprise! The sights are spectacular. There is nothing like cruising over night, opening the curtains the next morning and a monument stares you in the face. Wonderful. You will get heckled by the locals. This is a way of life to them. Just smile and be firm and they will go on to the next person.

I look forward to your report after your trip. I would say of the three tours I have been on, ,the Pyramids tour is my favourite so far.

Regards.

Thanks Mel for your tips. I wonder what the surprise is!! I am going to save up so I can do the Abu Simbel trip as well. I have seen the Pyramids and the Sphinx years ago when I did a mini cruise from Cyprus to Cairo - not sure how I survived for two days without any food and hardly any water as I was so 'sea sick'! Looks like I will need a lot of bottled water as I do tend to drink a lot and if one has to use it for brushing the teeth as well then will need extra supplies. Hope it is easy to get hold of. I will certainly post a report on my return.

Regards

Hi, just to say that I did the Istanbul, Troy and Ephesus trip in October this year. I have done several JY tours and this was one of the best and would recommend it. It is quite demanding but is fascinating and varied, the hotels and food are good, the tour manager and the local guide were excellent and the Turkish people were very welcoming. I hope you enjoy it.

Hi Anele

If you really want to go on the Istanbul City Break then just go ahead and book it. Travelling with Just You is great. You will meet lots of interesting people and have a wonderful time no matter which destination you choose. I have been on 4 Just You holidays and they all have been great. I have not been to Istanbul yet, but hope to visit it one day as I have heard many good reviews about it. I sincerley hope that you will find the courage to book the trip. You will have no regrets.

The final big step was paying the balance - no backing out now!

I'm doing Istanbul, Troy and Ephesus on 5th May. I understand that af of today there are 26 people booked (max capacity is 30).

Is anyone else in the JY Community going?

Hi Dave

Let me know how you get on if you go in April/May - I am booked on the Istanbul, Troy & Ephesus in September. It will be my first Just You (unfortunately the other half can't fly and doesn't like cruises!) and I haven't been to this part of Turkey before. But I have been to different parts of Turkey previously and have always been 'wowed' by the country, it's history and most of all it's people. The temperature should be reasonable but not stifling, and I'm sure you'll have a great time if you go :)
