Hi to anyone who can give me some feedback on the discovery weekends. I have just booked one to Leeds in March. All this holidaying alone is new to me and nervous. If all goes well I would like to consider one of the holidays to the United States. Any suggestions for a first trip to the US?

Hi Pauline,

the Golden West tour is JY's most popular US hol and I did it two years ago, my first long haul holiday and I had a brilliant time. Met up with four lovely ladies that I still keep in touch with and we try to meet up once a year since. San Francisco is a great city and I loved Vegas and the Grand Canyon. A great hol to start off with. I've since done South Africa/Zambia (my best hol ever!), India, South America (with Travelsphere as I wanted to see Chile and go over the Andes) and I'm off to Vietnam and Cambodia in Feb. Hope you do book a tour and have a great time. By the way, I'm reliably informed that the people who go on Discovery weekends aren't always typical of those who go on the holidays, so although I'm sure you'll have a great weekend, don't compare it with a JY holiday.

All the best,

Bob

Bob I am intrigued what sort of person goes on a JY Discovery weekend LOL!!!

Pauline

A warm welcome to you, I have not been on a discovery weekend when I first started useing JY 6 years ago they were not an option. My very 1st JY tour was to USA Boston,New England and New York.. I had a fantastic time I really did, such wonderful sights to see it really was an eye opener to many more JY tours I have my 9thbooked for May 2013... Another USA one..

There is no need to worry about being a single traveller with JY it really is very well organised, and things on the whole run very smoothly, people gel well together from early on, and long term friendships can be made I am still in contact with a lady a met in my very 1st tour, and have made some very good friends along the way which is a bonus.

If I can help you with any questions along the way, just ask.

Have fun

Cindy

Pauline,

I've done 3 US holidays with JY and my favorite so far is definately Golden West. Saying that both others "parks & canyons" and "route 66" were both good.

Do like the look of the new Florida holiday and may do it in the future.

Hi,

I haven' been on a discovery weekend, but have been on a few singles holidays, and they have all been fantastic, well organised and great fellow travellers. I have only done the Golden West tour, which was really good. It depends whether you like big cities or places like parks and canyons. I initially booked for parks and canyons, but my date was cancelled and integrated with other dates, which I couldn't manage, so I did the Golden West. I am not much for big cities, but the trip was fantastic. I absolutely loved San Francisco, even though it is big, I felt very safe and at home there. i spent a whole day on my own, went to Alcatraz and just exploring. Fabulous.

Whatever you do, wherever you go, you will love it.

Hi Cindy

Thanks for the reply. Although I have looked at a few of the american holidays I think my first venture will be like you the one to Boston, New England and New York. New England in the fall really appeals to me and is somewhere I have always wanted to visit, along with New York. Would be a big step for me to do the holiday but life is too short!!
