I know it's very subjective but I'd be glad if anyone has been on this trip if they could give an idea of costs please?

Assuming extra excursions have already been settled what about the day to day expenditure?

How much might be a sensible amount to take - and have a card with me 'just in case'.

Hope to take advantage of others' experiences.

All other advice would be great too.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Dido

I have not been on this tour but I have been on 8 others..

I work on the lines of I might never go to that country again so if there is something I fancy doing then I do it. So work in the cost of anything and everything you might send money on for the optional extra bits. Then have a good look at what is in the price, breakfast, lunches, dinners etc?..then work out how much you will send on food per day x how many days..

I am not a big sender on tourist memorabilia so I don't have a big budget for shopping..

I always take a card with me that I can use while away if need be, do make sure you let the company know your going abroad.

So my answer to your question really is I take as much as I can away as I want to do and see all that is available. Then I put the money I don't use back in the bank when I get home.

When I went to NZ this January I took a large amount with me as I wanted to do many helicopter/lite aircraft flights but due to bad weather above I only managed 1 helicopter flight, so I did bring a lot of money back home.

I hope someone who has been on this tour can give you more of an idea.

Good Luck

Cindy

Hi Dido,

Its always a difficult question as everyone is different.

Will you be eating in restaurants/bars/diners ?

As a lot of meals are not included you need to budget for your own preferences, I find prices are similar to the UK, you can eat in bars & diners cheaply but some restaurants are very expensive.

Will you be bringing lots of souveniers/memorabillia back ?

Remember tipping is much higher in the US for everything (then of corse your tour manager & driver).

Hi Dido,

There is a website called numbeo.com that might help. Just put in the city you're travelling to and you can see the local costs of restaurants etc. Sue

Hi. I did this tour in September and first of all i will say it is absolutely brilliant. As for spending money i took about £1800 which included £300 specifically for gambling in Vegas. So about £1500 for general spending. Some if it went on excursions booked whilst there, but i did bring plenty back. Since then the exchange rate i beleive is a lot better so you could get away with a bit less. I do have a habit of taking too much on evevry trip i do!!

Hello

I think it is always better to take too much rather than less. I too take more than I think I will need, just in case. Every person is different so it is very difficult to say how much should one take. I have had one lady on two trips I have done with Just You and she did not spend any money at all, apart from buying water - not even for buying lunch. She used to 'sneak' food from the buffet breakfast for lunch!
