Hi. I've been browsing the Travelsphere brochure and have found my perfect holiday...DEEP SOUTH. I'm a big music fan, especially blues and I would just love this holiday. I'm retired but even thinking of getting a wee job to pay for it!! 🙂 Unfortunately JY don't do this tour. I'm a bit worried about being on my own, especially at meal times as no meals are included apart from some breakfasts. Has anyone done this tour? Any advice or feedback?

Thanks

Jean

Hi Jean I noticed this holiday in the Travelsphere brochure and thought it sounded very interesting, especially the chance to meet Johnny Cash's son or brother! Why don't you wait till it gets a bit nearer and ring Travelsphere and ask if any other solo travellers are booked on the tour? Then at least you would know if you would be on your own or not. Of course, don't leave it too long either or it might be sold out! Hope you decide to go and even if you were the only solo traveller I am sure the others on the tour would include you in meals etc so you wouldn't be on your own. If you look at the Nepal thread on this forum and also on the Share your travel tips and Reviews you will see some comments from people who have gone with Travelsphere as a single traveller and they all had a great time. So I would say, if you really want to do this hol, go for it!!

Cheers,

Bob

Thanks Bob. I phoned this morning to ask that very question. There are 22 booked...all couples! I'm quite confident travelling on my own, but it is the meals thing that's the probelm. I'm asking around friends to see if anyone will come with me, otherwise I may just take the plunge.

Don't know if this an appropriate answer in the Just you forum but as they don't offer this holiday it is not taking away business. One traveller run a deep south tour for solo mature travellers.

Thanks Jenny. I hadn't heard of that company before. I had a look and it is very similar to the Travelsphere tour. It's quite a bit more expensive but is a couple of days longer and includes many meals. Unfortunately they only do 2 dates and the March one is sold out so not available until November. Don't know if I can wait that long!

Hi Jean

I tried to book this with Just You a couple of years ago - it was Sold Out and I ended up going with Newmarket Holidays!( Reasonable price but I felt they tried to do too much in too short time) The places we visited were FANTASTIC and I would def recommend you go !!! Saga Holidays also do this Tour - worth giving them a ring to see if any Singles. X

Thanks CLK,

I have finally booked with Archers. My long suffering daughter has agreed to come with me! We fly out at the end of April to Chicago, then St Louis, Nashville, Memphis, Lafayette and finishing with 3 nights in New Orleans. 11 nights in total. I have to travel through to Edinburgh (I'm in Glasgow) but much easier than going down to Heathrow. I'm so excited, I can't wait!

I wonder why JY dropped it if it was a sell out. Perhaps it will reappear one day.

Hi Jean

I'm so pleased that you got booked for this tour - you will LOVE it!! When we were in New Orleans - there was a guy on a street corner singing 'The House of The Rising Sun' - just fantastic! Memphis was awesome with Piano Bars and fabulous Jazz/Blues Bands playing in them and Nashville was amazing - loads of bars that you could wander in listen to fantastic Fiddle playing Singers !!! I'd love go on another Tour to Deep South!! Have a FABULOUS time!! x

A couple of years ago I went on a JY tour of Nashville and Memphis, doing the country and western and then Elvis tour I found it very interesting, Beale street with all the music, music hall of fame, grande ole Opry and then all the sights to do with Elvis.. And the jack Daniels distillery I had a very good time, I think this tour was only in the brochure for 1year I think it was dropped due to lack of interest?
