I'm planning on going to Cilento Coast next March 2013, it will be my first trip with JY and would appreciate any views/tips from people who have been before about what to expect - I can't find a customer ratings in the brochure! Thanks, Jaq

Hello Jaq

I did this trip in May this year. It was my first JY trip and I loved it. The hotel is lovely with spacious rooms and set right by the sea in the lovely village of San Marco. The trips are really interesting too. Cilento is a truly beautiful and unspoilt part of Italy and so not really geared up for tourism, which is part of its charm. I would totally recommend it.

If you want any tips on anything specific, please ask. Happy to help.

Jean

Hi Jaq. I went last year at the beginning of May (probably the first trip out I think, and my first holiday with JY). What an introduction! The weather wasn't kind to us for the first couple of days, but then we had a terrific storm one evening and everything blew over. I still remember with fondness sitting on my balcony watching the lightning over the Neapolitan Coast. It remained cool at night though, and the front lounges of the hotel are open plan so I would recommend a wrap.

The hotel is really nice, quite different in fact. I have never been in a hotel before with greenery coming down into the corridors! It's great. Wonderful bedrooms, and they all have balconys as far as I am aware. Mine had a great view out to sea and over the pool area. Good food, great buffet breakfast, and a nice choice of waiter served food at night. We got free wine with our meals but I am not sure if that is still the case!

The staff are all very efficent and friendly and everywhere is kept spotless.

I didnt go on all the trips and I know they have changed some of them since I went, but they were good value. Cilento is still uncommercialised Italy and I love it.

All this is making me feel very nostagic! I havent made up my mind about next year yet. The thought of Cilento keeps pulling me back. I would love to go again.

One question. You said you were going in March?

Hi just come back from the Cilento coast. Everything was perfect and I wish I was still there!!! I pre booked all the trips which were lovely but too much because there was not enough time to explore San Marco. San Marco is itself a beautiful place to be.

Glad you had a great time too Maria. If I do go back I intend to spend more time exploring by myself (or with company:)) San Marco was lovely I agree. If I did have one small fault to find with the arrangements it was that on the trip I went on we werent orientated to San Marco itself at all. I know it is only small but it would have been nice to have known where various places (ATM, bars, supermarket etc were), also the bus stop to go to Castellabate and Santa Maria with a timetable. The receptionists at the hotel were very good, but it still took me a while to find my way around. A map of hiking trails would be useful too!

Perhaps all these were provided this year?

Thankyou, that`s everything I wanted to hear. I will be going to Cilento Coast on 5th May, my second JY holiday. Last year I went to Andalucia and it was wonderful. I can`t wait!
