I know a few on this thread criticise the fact that JY are doing quite a few American holidays while have cut back on some of the more exotic worldwide places. Yes I appreciate that some people don't want to go to America for whatever their reason but for me its a great place to visit, virtually a continent in one country and each holiday is very different.

I would also say I'm not alone in liking America as i think I'm right in saying that most USA holidays are popular and are very rarely cancelled (if at all) due to lack of numbers. I don't believe the same can be said about some of the holidays that have been dropped.

Certainly if I was running a buisness it would be the popular holiday destinations that would always take priority.

My only two complaints is lack of American holidays (route 61, civil war battlefields, city breaks, etc) and length of some holidays are too short (should all be 16 days in my opinion).

So, not everyone is pleased with the new brochure! Reading the replies I think there is a sort of 2 tier level of clients. The "newbies" and the"old hands". The new clients are more than happy to go on the short haul "safer" options and the old hands want somthing new and exciting!! The thing is JY is a business and will offer what they can sell. I agree with Mick on USA, but cost has to be a factor for most people. I did 2 JY trips this year but I am undecided on next year. I may check out Travelsphere as a single as going with couples wouldnt bother me.

It’s interesting in how such vastly different opinions have been expressed in this debate over the destinations JY should offer.

I would also place the US/Canada on the top of my list, and have little interest in many of the other destinations suggested, such as many Asian countries. Not surprisingly, I would therefore urge JY to consider adding other North American holidays in addition to those already on offer.

Clearly other people hold different, and equally valid views, but in the final analysis JY will run holidays which attract the most people, and are thus commercially viable, and will drop those which have only limited appeal.

As mentioned above, I would suggest that the existing US holidays are nearly always fully booked, whereas this has not been the case with holidays in other parts of the world, including those which have disappeared from the list

Maybe the powers that be could put a link up with like a pie chart (I AM OLD SCHOOL) that we could have 1 vote on say and see what countries come out top and bottom..

I would favour USA over any Orient tour.

Another viewpoint - I have no interest at all in going to the USA (I used to travel there a lot with my job and often tagged holidays on to the end of a trip). Yes, there's plenty to see and do, but not for all of us.

I would love to travel to more Far East destinations and will visit these countries with other travel companies that specialise in these areas.

I would also like to see more short breaks available with JY, for example long weekends in European cities such as Rome, Tallinn, Edinburgh (not just new year), Vienna. There are so many to choose from and I guess many of us could fit in a long weekend away as well as a "big" holiday.

I've been awaiting delivery of the new brochure with anticipation but it hasn't arrived. I assumed that previous travellers would receive it automatically, but perhaps not. Anyway I've requested one now so may contribute to this discussion when I've had a chance to see it. Oh and I know it's available online but it's not the same as flicking through a hard copy!

Slightly disappointed with new brochure although do realise how difficult it is to please everyone and find tours to suit regarding dates and prices. I was thinking of the Central Europe trip but have been put off completely by reviews (on other sites too) of the hotels used. I love Italy and will definitely be booking for Calabria. Have been to Tuscany, Apulia and Cilento (this May) and found them all to be wonderful. I notice that you have cut out the boat trip on the Cilento hol - this was a real highlight (stopping for lunch at a beautiful small harbour and sampling Roccola on the boat coming back!)

I love USA, did West Coast 3 years ago and would love more but unlike some do not want too long a trip with so many one/ two night hotel stays! Have just returned from 10 days in New England with company catering for more mature clients(!) and found that ideal in length altho a bit short of compatable singles! I like the look of the Florida trip and will consider that for later this year or next.

I'd love you to do a music tour of US - Nashville, Tennessee, Memphis, possibly a jazz one down southas well, etc.

I will be travelling with youagain [/font] BUT will be checking out other tour companies.

I did go on a JY tour to Memphis and Nashville a few years ago it was only in the brochure for a couple of years I think due to lack of interest... For me it was a greta tour.. The Grand Old Oprey and the Country and western Bars were fab, and I just loved all to do with Elvis where he was born and Graceland..was great value for money.

Hi Will,

Just received my new JY brochure this morning and had a quick look through it.

Although all your holidays are excellent the only one I would consider is the Vietnam / Cambodia tour but infact might wait for 2014 to see if you do put Hawaii in as a destination. My partner says can you reconsider Maderia for 2014 again.

Eric

Hi Will & Eric

Would agree that a Madeira holiday would be a great idea.

Maggie

I was planning on Madeira next year, so was disappointed until I found a couple of Italian holidays that look may make suitable alternatives.

I did the Kenyan trip this year for the first one and I loved the safari but not so much the second half. I would love to go to one of the lesser visited African countries and just have 10 days or so on different safaris missing the beach part. In Kenya it is hard to go on the beach because of all the sales people and it is a bit boring compared with the exitement of the animals. Others on my trip said the same thing. I would definately go to somewhere like Gambia etc. After my trip to Canada next year I cant see any others that I would wont to go to on the long haul flights and dont at the moment wont to do the European ones as I wont to save those until I dont feel able to go longer distances, although I will do Croatia in the future.
