Hello everyone,

I've just booked the New England tour departing 1st October. I've been dithering for days but finally plucked up the courage because of all the supportive posts I've read in this community (and because the holiday looks fab). It's my first 'proper' holiday since losing my husband two years ago and I'm terrified about doing this alone, so I'm really proud of myself for pressing the 'book now' button. Has anyone else booked this holiday for this date? Would love to get to know a few fellow travellers before the day.

Hello Pompey Girl ( are you from Portsmouth?)

Good for you pressing the book now button, this tour sounds like fun very similar to my first tour Boston New England and New York. great sights to see I have now done 8 JY tours so I know you will enjoy this tour.If I can help with any thing just ask.

Hi Cindy

Thanks for the encouragement and the offer to help. I'm really looking forward to the holiday now and all my friends think it's fantastic that I've booked it. Wow I'm really impressed that you've done 8 JY holidays - they're obviously getting something right so that gives me a lot more confidence.

Yes I'm from Portsmouth - do you know it?

Thanks again for the reply

Yes I now Portsmouth very well!!! My Son was in the NAVY so spent many days down Pompey way for Navy events etc, Love the Gunwarf shops esp the Cadbury chocolate shop!!, been up the spinnaker? and to the Navy Historic dockyard, many very happy memories from Portsmouth, and I love a man in uniform,,My son only stayed in for 4 years, as he did not want to be a distant father he has two kids now.

If you want to see what other holidays I have done have a look on the posting on here "How many Just you holidays have you done" or it says something like that, many people that have been very nervouse of doing a JY tour end up going again and again. Great fun, also I have met some ladies who then I have gone on others tours with like a holiday friend, which works really well for some people.. have fun travelling .

Hi Ceri,

I am one of your fellow travellers on this trip and it's my first holiday with JY too, in fact its my first holiday for many years. I booked after ready the many good comments here and convincing myself there was no reason to say no, so I said yes and did it.

Thank you for posting as I now know at least one other is going on this date, and your from the south like myself.

Hi Ann and Cindy,

Great to hear from you Ann and so nice to know that you've booked too. Have you been to New England before? I have been there a few times with my late husband so I'm really looking forward to going back. Never been in the autumn though so it should be good.

And Cindy - thank you for all the lovely feedback. Yes Pompey is a great place to live if you like city life and I know the Cadbury shop!

I am one of your fellow passengers on this holiday I think! Going to New York first then up to Canada?

This is my first Just You holiday so really looking forward to it and the experience.

I must admit though I have asked my "single" friend to book it too. She lives down south and I am in Northamptonshire. She has just returned from a trip to China with Just You (her first) and really enjoyed it, although there were a few problems which could have been avoided. It has not put her off the trip in October though.

Will be good to meet you all! :)

Hi Ceri,

I've been to New York for a weekend when it was very cold and covered in snow but not any of the other places. I'm looking forward to seeing all the autumn trees, Niagra Falls and the other interesting places on the tour.

Hi again Ann and hi Sue,

Looking forward to meeting you both. I have a friend who has done a couple of Just You trips and she assures me that it will be wonderful.

I'm actually starting to get excited

Hi - I'm going on this trip and beginning to look forward to it. My husband died four years ago and I'm still finding it hard to find a holiday that I really want to do but the thought of all that colour in nature is something that really made me stop dithering and press the button! Looking forward to meeting you all. Mary

Hi Pompey Girl

I am also booked on this trip and it will be my 10th singles trip - 8th with Just You. I am having to fly down from Manchester to Heathrow. You will love the holiday. Just You really look after you and the people who go on these holidays are always great to meet and get to know. I still meet up with a friend I met in China 5 years ago.
