Hi PatB
I've only done one holiday with JY, a long weekend to Luxembourg. On my holiday meals were as follows:- Breakfast, included, wasn't at a set time but as something is usually organised, either a trip or transit to another hotel, then there were usually plenty of your fellow travellers in the restraunt, just join a table with your fellow guests. Lunch was not included, if it's an excursion day then you will probably find there will be plenty of others eating in the same place. Dinner was included, this was at a set time and we had a number of large reserved tables, you just join one and soon you will be chatting with the others and making friends. Many of us used to meet in the bar before dinner and it allowed us to "Unwind", for the ladies who are nervous about being unaccompanied in a bar then this was an ideal way to meet, chat and make friends. Many of us were in the bar after the meal to further unwind!
Breakfast for us in Luxembourg was Continental, obviously, with some hot extras such as bacon, scrambled egg and toast. Lunch was usually light cafe food. Dinner was usually 3 course. I am not the most adventurous eater, my mates and family say fussy! I managed very well. If it was beef or fish then they would usually rustle up a chicken portion for me, just ask.
PS Your question was not pathetic, it's wise to ask. As you've plucked up enough courage to ask then you will probably have enough courage to talk to your fellow passengers. My advice is to make friends with your fellow travellers, meet the others in the bar before dinner - even if you don't drink - there will almost certainly be some of the others there. Dress for the evening meals was always "smart casual" after all we are only on holiday.
If there are any more questions then please ask.
Enjoy your holiday
