I'm going on this trip, first time solo.Any tips will be grateful for, especially what currencies to take. How easy to change money etc.Would good shoes be ok,don't want to have to take very heavy shoes if not necessary.

Hi

Thanks for getting back to me. Have now searched all comments for previous trips, found out lots of info ,so am now excited about going. There seems to be lots of first timers going, which somehow makes the feeling of going on ones own easier. Look forward to seeing you on the 13TH.Glad its not a Friday!!!!

Hi Lotte, Yep me too. I`ve contacted babycake and Sue55. Am also wondering how much money to take. Amounts vary on the posts on the editors page. I`m thinking of amix of cash, travellers cheques and prepaid card, but need to get to my bank to enquire about that. I was considering American $, but after this weeks crisis there have now decided on £ sterling. I read that comfy shoes are a must as it`s quite hectic. Also loo paper/tissues for public toilets! As to clothes I think I will take things to wear in layers if you know what I mean. I`m doing the yangtze cruise add on. Never cruised before. Am looking forward to it all. See you soon. Marion

I did trip in May including Yangtze add on. It was absolutely great but very busy until you finally get on the cruise boat. Then you get 4 days at a much more relaxed pace - but still plenty to do. With regard to currency, I did not take any travellers cheques but guy who did had trouble getting them changed. Because of how busy a holiday it is you change mony mainly at hotel/boat. I would recommend taking Pounds but make sure notes are in pristine condition or they will be refused and I would take £100 pounds to start. How much you need after that depends on your shopping habits!! Be aware that drinks in hotels and on boat are expensive.

Hope this helps. Have a fabulous time, I did!!!
