Well, I think that this must be the most asked question with regards to JY.. OK I shall try and answer, BTW there are always more ladies than Men that travel in a tour group. The age range can be anything from 20's to 80's, and all the ages inbetween. I would have to say the core age is approx 55-70, I started using JY 5 years ago this Sept and I was 48 when I started I have done 6 tours, I have been the youngest in a group but that and age does not bother me, I love having all the ages as everybody at all ages brings something into the mix. What I would say is that its amzing that some oldies! are much fitter than me who is in the younger bracket. If you can chat away to people and love seeing new countries then go for it. Age is a number at the end of the day. I would say that over the 5 years I do think the age range is coming down.

Hi Cindy as a JY veteran(!) I was just wondering which of the hols you found the best and if you wouldn't mind sharing a bit about each? As well as the South African Explorer, I've booked the Spirit of India for next year and hope to visit Thailand, Vietnam, China, Malaysia, South America, National Parks and Canyons, New England and various others over the next few years so I'd love to hear what you've thought of the ones you've been on.

Vetaran there's a NEW word for me!!!!!!!!

Of course I do not mind sharing, I have enjoyed all the tours but not allways for the same reasons. I shall list them in the order I have taken them.

1. Boston New England and New York, this was my 1st JY tour and I did travel with my Ma In Law as she had lost her husband and I was showing her what was out there re single travelling. This was a great value for money holiday. Such a great bunch of people so much to see and do, I fell in love with New England. Well worth going on. I buddied up with a Lady called Lynda on this tour who I have travelled since with, with JY

2. Poland and the Tatra Mountains, travelling on my own, the reason I choose this tour was for the day trip to Aushwitz and Bergen Hau, this is somewhere I always wanted to visit to pray my respects, the day was emotional but I am so glad I went,To be honest I wasnt that fussed when I read in the brochure about the Tatra Mountains, BUT HOW WRONG was I, they were amazing and the sceneray was breath taking, Meet a fantastic crowd including Sharon and Rosemary who I have since travelled with on JY tours. Great Rep on this tour Ian Darkin? he had such great knowledge. Really good tour not so frantic.

3. Nashvile and Memphis, Travelling on my own, what sold this to me of course was Elvis and Gracelands and the Blues of Nashville. Really great music tour and learned so much always wanted to visit the Grand Old Opry and Gracelands, they lived up to what they are. Good mix of people, for me on a personal level the lady who was the rep, had absolutley no interest in music so did'nt really GET IT, as we all where there for music etc. Also I loved the Civil rights side of this tour, well worth the journey.

4. Austrian Lakes, Travelled with Rosemary and Sharon (from Poland tour), well stunning scenery, lovely hotel family run which was nice, did'nt do that well with food I am a vegetarian but that was not the hotels fault they really did try for me. There was a lot of coach journey on this tour and 1 day we couldnt face it any more so we did our own thing which was really nice, great tour ref once again, really nice tour gentle but very nice scenery etc.

5. East Coastliner, I travelled with Lynda (from my 1st USA Tour) this had a lot to do with civil war and the 1st presidant etc I love History so this was right up my street, Rep was OK, but we learnt an awfull lot from our lovely driver who told us all about the black americans and the KKK, very interesting. This was a multi hotel holiday so was at times frantic and exhausting, but what we saw and learnt was so worth it, horrid journey home but that's not JY fault, weather and backlog of passangers made for extreme journey home. Great value for money.

6. Kenyan Safari + add on last October, travelled again with Rosemary (Poland and Austrian tour), well what can I say holiday of a lifetime animals were amazing to see living in the wild, and hotels good, great bunch of people, I liked the lazing by the pool, first time I had done an add on but so glad I did. Just memories forever on this trip regarding the animals.

7. Yet to go on Tuscany this month..Travelling on my own

8. New Zeland 2012 travelling with Lynda (Two USA tours) another big trip 20 days and lots of hotels but lots to see.

I was also book couple years ago on the Australian tour but JY cancelled due to numbers of people and I could not make the date they offered, I did this another way.

I am a vegetarian which can make life a little hard with food etc, but everywhere I have stayed has really tried to accomadate me, I have found people mix so well and quickley whatever the age mix is, it's all about helping one another, and mucking in. I have never had a problem while a way but others have and as a group we muck in and the Rep's are always very efficiant at sorting out REAL problems etc.

I still will travel on my own but you will find that sometimes people do know each other from Buddying up from other tours, or a couple of friends might travel together.

I hope you find this usefull if there is anything else you need to know just ask away.

Many thanks for your reply Cindy, very helpful! Some of those tours JY don't do anymore, which is interesting as they must change their tour schedule quite a lot. Looking forward to swapping more holiday stories in the future! I've done the Treasures of Andalucia, which was a lovely hol with lots of trips but not too much time on the coach and America's Golden West, which was amazing - especially San Francisco, Vegas and the Grand Canyon - wow! Both JY reps I've had so far have been brilliant and I think the holidays are really well planned, so I can't wait for my next one!
