As an inveterate sender of postcards, I wondered if it is sensible to send them from China. Do they get there? Do they take a long time? Or should I just bring them home and post them from here!?

Any tips from people who've been there and done it would be appreciated

Thanks

Hi Debi

That's a good question!

I once sent postcards home from Hong Kong successfully. I'm not sure how long they took but they were reasonably quick.

In fact most of the postcards I have sent over the years have made it home - Cuba and New York are the only exceptions I can think of.

Kind regards,

Hi Debi,

I came back from the Wonder of China trip last week. I too am a great one for sending postcards from everywhere I go and to friends all over the world to friends (inc.Cuba).

You can get postcards with the stamps already printed on them in some of the hotel shops. If not, you can get the stamps from the Concierge in the hotel lobby and they will post them for you - 6 yuan (about 60p). This is certainly true of the hotel in Beijing and they get back to Britian very quickly - only a few days.

Hope this answers your question.

Have a great holiday. I know you will. China - Wow!

Be happy,

Best wishes,

It sounds like you had a good time Lesley thanks for the info. Am getting increasingly excited although still a little nervous, will relax more when my passport ansd visa arrive, but at least I've got the tickets.

I think the shopping /preparation is all done, now just the countdown :)

Hi,

Actually Olly, postcards from Cuba are not a problem.

I get letters and cards from Cuba - take a while but arrive eventually.

It's only if you send anything in an envelope (that therefore cannot be read) that creates the problem.

Best wishes,

Hi Lesley

I sent several postcards (no envelopes) and none made it back. I think you were lucky!
