Hi, I've been looking on here for a while now and just wondered if anyone can give me some ideas as to what to expect? Not sure whether to start with a discovery weekend or go straight for a week away somewhere. Are you expected to dress up, is it casual ?? I've so many questions in my head and giving myself reasons not to book, and I do think it would be a good thing to do.

Thanks for reading and any answers would be welcome. 🙂

Hello and welcome I have done 6 JY tours, regarding clothing I would say smart casual is the way to go, and maybe a couple of dresses ? for the evening.

It all really depends on what sort of holiday you wish to have, I have gone for the long haul trips 3 to USA, 1 Kenya Safari, 2 europe holidays, Austrian Lakes and to Poland and the Tatra Mountains..so have a look and see what type of holiday you fancy and then BOOK IT.. enjoy.

Hello Julie,

Well I was in the same position last year and went straight in at the deep end and did Americas Golden West, enjoyed it so much booked Treasures of Andalucia on my return which also was excellent.

I've booked two more trips Discover Mallorca (April) and Parks & Canyons (June) and still not done a discovery weekend.

As for dress, just be yourself but from what I've seen the vast majority opt for casual.

As for questions don't worry about asking thats what the forum is for.

Hi Julie, welcome to the forum :)

I only go on the European short breaks with JY. In my experience most people wear comfortable casual during the day and then change into something a little smarter in the evenings. If you want to really glam up in the evenings then that will be ok; if you want to stick with jeans and a T-shirt that will also be ok - most fall somewhere in the middle. Cindy's advice about a couple of dresses for the evening is what I would go with - if I was a female of course! :D

There appears to be two schools of thought about whether to go on a weekend first or go straight to a longer holiday. Some say test the water first; others say dive straight in. Both have arguments for and against and I think it depends on your character which you recommend. All I would say is give yourself a set time (say a week) to make a decision then if you really can't decide go with a coin toss.

I'm not sure what reasons you are finding for not going - unless you don't like having a good time and somehow I doubt that:-/

Hope that helps.

Thank you for all the advice, I have booked to go to the Austrian Lakes and I see a few others have posted who have been there. Sounds great and I am really looking forward to it now.

I just did it....

I'm going end June so if anyone else on here also booked to go then please do get in touch and i'll maybe meet you at the airport.

An adventure is out there I think....

Thanks again, Julie.
