I'm looking at my first singles holiday. I really want to go to South Africa in Sept, but have no-one to go with. Someone recommended JY, but I am very apprehensive. Will i be the youngest / oldest in the group, will i fit in?

I have read the brochure and it says there is a wide age range of people.

Since everyone is travelling alone - we are all in the same boat.

I have just booked China or September - I worried like you did but I thought to myself that The worse that can happen is no-one will talk to me and since there are quite a few people who travel this is so unlikey.

If you read some of the other threads you will notice that alot of people are staying in touch after their tours and they state how well everyone gets on together.

It doesnt matter if you are the oldest or youngest. Age is just a state of mind 😉 I am 40

I am 52, my 1st JY holiday I was 48 and soon will be on my 7th JY holiday. It is amazing how quick people get to know one another I am sure you will be fine.

Hi Trish,

Remember everyone is single with the vast majority doing it because they want to mix with others and not travel totally alone.

As for age range i can only go by my own experience from the two trips I've done with JY, both had a age range from late 20's to 70's among the ladies and late 40's to 70's among the men. Expect Ladies to outnumber the men.

Everyone go on well and seemed to have a great time, its actually good to have such a mix.

Hi,

Reading posts on this site the ages range from late 20's to early 80's so there should no doubt be a mixture on any tour.

I have been to various places completely on my own and on organised tours. Although the organised tours have been enjoyable I do find trying to mix and socialise with couples or families very hard which is why I am thinking of Just You. Of course the benefits are travelling with other single travellers and also being able to join in as much or as little as you wish.

I have clients who have been widowed and have used Just You and recommend the company so I am looking to do the Texas tour later this year.

As for my age, I am also 40!

hiyac Trish 2,

Would'nt say this post would be too useful to you regarding the information you're searching for, but if it's any consolation i'm in the same boat, literally, haha, so i'm sure were not alone.

I think it's a case of jumping and seeing where we land.

Good luck

Hi Trish

I have been on one JY holiday to Egypt, I was not the oldest I'm 62 and the youngest was in their

early 20s, we all got along really well.

So don't worry you will fit in.

Dave.

Hi Trish,

Just go for it. I have travelled with Just You three times, twice to USA and then Austria. My travelling companions were aged late 20's to 89yrs. I do feel having an active mind set and a spirit of adventure is not necessarily an age related thing! I found everyone gelled across the age ranges and mingled together. It adds a nice diversity.

I am contemplating going to South Africa on Sept 21st. Have also considered Canada but I think South Africa may win out. Want to be away doing something amazing for my 50th Birthday... Am looking forward to wide open spaces. Let me know if you book. Take the plunge you won't regret it I am sure.

Hi Trish,

First JY holiday last year to Jordan/ Egypt and it was great. 20 women/10 men, early 40's to 81. We had a great time. I am waiting for Destinations this weekend in London so that I can book my next trip- Just found Verona and the opera plus Venice. Never done Italy so I am going!!!! My way of crossing off a long list of places to see before I lose my marbles!

Thanks everyone for all your responses. I am 46 and was just a bit worried that i might be a little young for this type of holiday, but it would seem not. Now i just need to pluck up the courage and book it 🙂
